India A squad vs Australia A: Shreyas Iyer named captain for four-day matches in Lucknow
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has named a 15-member India A squad, led by Shreyas Iyer, for two upcoming four-day matches against Australia A in Lucknow. The series will begin on September 16, with KL Rahul and Mohammed Siraj joining the squad for the second match starting September 23.
Iyer was not named in the Indian side for the Asia Cup, which begins in the UAE on September 9. The prolific batter is currently part of the West Zone squad in action in the Duleep Trophy semi-final against Central Zone in Bengaluru.
The squad features a mix of experienced and emerging talent, with Dhruv Jurel serving as vice-captain and wicketkeeper. Other notable players include opening batter Abhimanyu Easwaran and Devdutt Padikkal, along with promising youngsters Sai Sudharsan and Ayush Badoni.
The bowling department will be spearheaded by Prasidh Krishna and Khaleel Ahmed, supported by spinners Harsh Dubey, Tanush Kotian, and Manav Suthar.
The team also includes all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy and leg-spinner Gurnoor Brar.
For the second multi-day match, two current players will make way for senior team regulars KL Rahul and Mohammed Siraj, who will strengthen the squad. Both matches will be played at the same venue in Lucknow.
