... THE RUN CHASE ...
The target for Delhi Capitals is 155 and they have their opening Lizelle Lee hot in form. Shafali Verma just has to provide the support, but don't underestimate the bowling unit of the Warrorz, having the likes of Deepti Sharma, Shikha Pandey and Sophie Ecclestone. Stay tuned as the second inning will commence in no time.
Marizanne Kapp of the Delhi Capitals stated she was not happy with her performance in the first two games and felt due for wickets in the most recent match. She expressed satisfaction with restricting the opposing team to their final total. Kapp mentioned it had been some time since she had bowled at the death overs and that she had made a few changes to her game this year. The coach had informed her she would need to bowl some overs at the back end of the innings, a role she felt was going well so far. She also praised teammate Nandani, highlighting her brilliant performance, especially in the previous game, where she took five wickets.
The scoring rate clearly dropped after that dismissal and UP Warriorz opted for a bold move by asking Harleen Deol to retire out, who clearly didn't like the plan, but had to walk off the field anyways. But the wickets started to tumble one by one, and no lower middle order batter was able to provide a major impact. By the end of the play, Marizanne Kapp and Shafali Verma bagged two scalps, Nandni Sharma, Sneh Rana, and Sree Charani chipped in for one each.
Even after losing a wicket in the very first over of the inning. Phoebe Litchfield and Meg Lanning notched a 47-run partnership to ease the situation. But after the introduction of Sneh Rana had an immediate effect on the Capitals with a wicket, eliminating Litchfield. However, Meg Lanning continued her knock, partnering with Harleen Deol and notched an even better partnership. But it was Nandni Sharma who brought the breakthrough by getting the wicket of the opposition skipper, Lanning.
What an exciting inning it was! UP Warriorz have posted 154 runs on the board, losing eight wickets. However, if we look back in the innings, the side was totally under control till the 16th over, but after that, they scored only 16 runs in the last four overs. On the other hand, much deserved credit to the bowling unit of the Capitals for showing their resilience and coming back into the game in the latter half of the inning.
Shafali Verma to Shikha Pandey, A couple to end the innings. Full and on off, Shikha Pandey chips this wide to the left of Sneh Rana at mid off and takes two to end the UP Warriorz innings. 154 is what they have scored batting first.
