MI vs GG, WPL 2025 Eliminator Highlights: Mumbai Indians beat Gujarat Giants by 47 runs to set up final with Delhi Capitals
The Mumbai Indians started slowly in the powerplay before Sciver-Brunt and Matthews accelerated against the Giants' bowling attack. Sciver-Brunt hit 10 fours and two sixes in her 41-ball innings. Matthews played cautiously early on before unleashing her aggressive style, reaching her fifty with a six off Tanuja Kanwer's left-arm spin. Her 50-ball innings proved crucial for the team's total.
The Giants' performance was hampered by poor fielding, with the team dropping four catches throughout the innings. Their bowling also appeared inconsistent against the Mumbai batters.
After a modest powerplay score of 37 runs, both Matthews and Sciver-Brunt increased their scoring rate. Matthews particularly targeted leg-spinner Priya Mishra with three consecutive boundaries. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur provided a explosive finish to the innings, hitting four sixes during her brief stay at the crease. The team accumulated 73 runs in the final five overs.
