Pitch Report
"I think bowlers will find joy if they pitch it up as this is a fresh pitch and there is a nice sprinkling of grass which is something the fast bowlers can exploit in the powerplay." - Rohan Gavaskar.

My role is to express myself and we got one of the best support staff, they are legends and I'm getting to learn a lot. All I am being told is to play my natural games and that will help me win games for my team. As a team it's a learning process, luckily whatever mistakes we did it was in the first game. We had time in between to reflect and prepare well and I'm sure all the guys have prepared well for this. I prefer opening, but I'm ready to play wherever the team needs me.

PITCH REPORT - Rohan Gavaskar is pitchside and he says that it is a fresh pitch and it's an even 70 meters square of the wicket on both sides. He adds that at this stadium back of the length was the way and you couldn't pitch it up but tonight it is a different track and the pacers will look to pitch it up a bit further and the likes of Bhuvi will get more help.

Team News | Jason Holder is making his debut for Lucknow Super Giants tonight

Trying my best every time I go out there, the game is always changing so trying to keep up with that or even stay ahead sometimes is what I try to do. There is no reason to have an ego as a bowler in T20 cricket, you can perfectly execute the delivery you were after and somehow it finds a way to go to the boundary. You just gotta take those tough overs on, some days it comes off and some days it doesn't and it's all part and parcel of the game. Just trying to keep growing with the game. I started to lose my way a little bit, my pace used to be up around 140ks and then I started hitting maximum about 135ks and then luckily my bowling coach (Matt Mason) back home, I trusted him to change my action and make some changes for the better. At first I told him to get lost as it was never going to work trying to change my action as a 33-year old then was probably career suicide, luckily I went around and tried it and just sort of extended my arm path from my load up moving it out towards the batsman rather than straight down, you will be able to find that difference in the footage of my old action and my new action.

* Manish Pandey is set to face Bhuvneshwar Kumar in the IPL after a four-year gap. In six T20 meetings, Bhuvneshwar has dismissed him four times while conceding just 20 runs in 19 balls.

Just been one game, reflecting on that past game - it's given us a few days to take a lot of lessons that we learn from that game. Top-four - probably the spots I am quite used to. Spent a lot of time at the top of the order and now in the last year or two, it's been more at four or five. Finally getting used to the middle-order. They (coaching staff) have been really positive, they understand in T20 you can have games like we did in our first game. It's important in quite a long tournament like this to brush that aside, give credit to the opposition. They have just reassured us that there's a lot of time left in this competition and hopefully tonight is the night where we can execute a lot better and get our first win on the board. It'd be nice (to bowl) but it's whatever the team requires. Washi is our No. 1 off-spinner and he's probably one of the best in the world at that as well. I am more than happy to take a back seat to him. Working closely with him and Murali, in the training, they are helping me quite a bit. If needed, I'll be ready.

* Jason Holder as a bowler in T20s since 2020: 20.95 average and an economy rate of 7.83.

Hyderabad, on the other hand, had a forgettable outing in the last game. The bowling unit with enough quality bowlers leaked far too many runs while the new batting lineup just couldn’t handle the pressure of the big score and failed miserably. They seem to be heavily dependent on a few international stars and they need their local talent to contribute with the bat if they want to go deep in the tournament. Can they lift themselves up and produce a better performance this time around? Or will Lucknow get their second win on the trot? We shall find out. Toss and teams sheets in a while.

Lucknow, one of the newest entrants in the Indian T20 League started the tournament with a loss in a close encounter but came back with a more clinical display in the second game. In both the games so far, the new franchise has displayed great fighting spirit and the depth of their batting department has been the highlight of their performance so far. Jason Holder is set to be available for selection in this game and that will boost their seam attack which has been a tad expensive. However, it was Ravi Bishnoi who yet again displayed why he is rated so highly with his crafty spin bowling in the last game and Lucknow will hope that he continues in the same vein.

It’s time for the battle of Nawabs and Nizams as Lucknow get ready to lock horns against Hyderabad. We welcome everyone to our coverage as we get ready for another mouth-watering contest of this 15th edition of the Indian T20 League.

... MATCH DAY …

18:29 (IST) Apr 04
Sunrisers Hyderabad have been traditional slow starters and the 61-run defeat in the season-opener of this edition's IPL has only added to their woes. All their hopes of a quick reversal of fortunes after a horror last season were dashed by Rajasthan Royals, who put their attack to the sword and wrecked their batting inside the powerplay. The manner of defeat will certainly rankle. While the bowlers, barring Bhuvneshwar Kumar, showed absolute lack of control, their batsmen were all at sea against Prasidh Krishna upfront and scoreboard pressure meant Yuzvendra Chahal scythed through the middle.
18:22 (IST) Apr 04
Sunrsiers would be looking for a complete, all-round performance to register their first win of the season.
18:16 (IST) Apr 04
In their only match so far, South African Aiden Markran played an unbeaten 57-run knock off 41 balls, while Washington Sundar hit a blazing 14-ball 40, albeit in a losing cause.
18:08 (IST) Apr 04
If bowling is a concern, Sunrisers batting department too looked cagey against RR and would be relying heavily on skipper Kane Williamson, Rahul Tripathy, Nicholas Pooran, Abdul Samad and Abhishek Sharma to deliver the goods.
17:52 (IST) Apr 04
SRH bowlers need to step up the game
While experienced Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1/29) produced an economical spell, the likes of Romario Shepherd (1/33), Umran Malik (2/39), T Natarajan (2/43) and Washington Sundar leaked runs against RR. And Sunrisers team management will expect a much-improved performance from its bowling unit in the matches to come.
17:43 (IST) Apr 04
Comprising a mediocre squad, Sunrisers players need to punch above their weight.
17:35 (IST) Apr 04
Sunrisers, on the other hand, were blown away by the batting effort of Rajasthan Royals in a 61-run defeat in their opening match.
