SRH vs PBKS Highlights, IPL 2026: Cooper Connolly's century in vain as Punjab Kings suffer hat-trick of defeats

SRH vs PBKS highlights, IPL 2026: Sunrisers Hyderabad climbed to the top of the IPL points table with a commanding 33-run win over Punjab Kings in Hyderabad on Wednesday. SRH posted a daunting 235/4 after Punjab’s sloppy fielding handed their batters several lifelines throughout the innings.

Heinrich Klaasen once again starred with the bat, smashing 69 off 43 balls, while Ishan Kishan chipped in with a quick 55 from 32 deliveries. The duo took full advantage of dropped catches and a missed stumping as Punjab failed to capitalise on crucial moments. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head also provided a fiery start, adding quick runs in the powerplay to put SRH firmly in control.

Punjab’s fielding woes heavily hurt their chances on a batting-friendly surface. Klaasen and Kishan were both dropped multiple times, while wicketkeeper Prabhsimran Singh missed a straightforward stumping chance. Spinner Yuzvendra Chahal bowled well despite receiving little support from the fielders.

SRH’s aggressive batting display included 17 sixes, with Abhishek, Head, Klaasen and Kishan all clearing the ropes regularly. Nitish Reddy’s unbeaten 29 further boosted the total.

In reply, Punjab Kings never recovered from a poor start after losing early wickets in the powerplay. Pat Cummins and Eshan Malinga bowled disciplined spells and kept pressure on the batters with regular dot balls.

Cooper Connolly fought hard with an unbeaten century off 59 balls, but lacked support from the other end. Punjab eventually finished on 202/7, suffering their third straight defeat and ninth consecutive IPL loss in Hyderabad.

Connolly sprints to his right from deep backward square leg and looks to push the ball away from the fence with his right hand. The ball clips his fingertips and trickles behind into the fence. Jansen goes for 21 runs in his first over.

Ready to rock and roll in Hyderabad. Two of the most prolific six-hitting teams on the menu. It's a sea of orange in support of the home team with a sprinkling of red jerseys here and there. A huge cheer goes up at Uppal as Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma walk out to the crease to open for SRH. Arshdeep Singh has the new ball in hand and is raring to go. Abhishek to take the strike. Positive mood in the camp - The skipper of the Sunrisers Hyderabad, Pat Cummins says they would have bowled first as well, but is quick to highlight that they have been winning games batting first, so they are not much worried or upset about the toss result. Pat says it has been a really good campaign, underlining that it wasn't their day in the last game, but also points out that they had won five on the trot before that. He describes that the atmosphere in the group is really positive and says they don't need to look too far back. On the crowd, Cummins says they have been awesome over the last few years and that they love to see great cricket, with him hoping to bring more of that tonight. About the surface, Cummins admits he can't read pitches but notes that they all seem to be pretty high-scoring here. He reckons that it may slow up a bit in the second innings, which he sees as a positive when bowling second. On the team combination, Cummins informs that Nitish Kumar Reddy is back from illness, and he comes in for Aniket Verma.

He says that they are professional, they can't complain, and they will always give their best. Iyer reckons the surface is good, and they will try to see how it behaves and look to chase the target. He ends by saying that Shashank Singh and Lockie Ferguson are back in the side.

PBKS vs SRH Live Score, IPL 2026: From Klaasen to Stoinis, Death-Over Giants Ready for Hyderabad Shootout - toss coming up
Few IPL contests this season feature as much finishing firepower as Wednesday’s showdown between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings. If the match remains close entering the final five overs, expect absolute chaos with some of the league’s best death-over hitters preparing to launch.

Heinrich Klaasen continues to be one of the most feared finishers in world cricket, especially against pace bowling. Alongside him, SRH possess the explosive Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma, capable of destroying attacks within a handful of overs.

Punjab Kings, however, may hold an equally dangerous hand. Marcus Stoinis owns the highest strike-rate in IPL history in 20th overs among batters who have faced at least 50 deliveries. Shreyas Iyer and Shashank Singh also bring immense power and finishing ability to the middle order.

The game could become a battle of nerve for bowlers tasked with surviving the closing stages. SRH youngster Sakib Hussain has impressed at the death this season, conceding just eight runs per over on average, making him a potentially crucial figure tonight.

Both teams prefer fearless cricket and rarely abandon aggressive intent regardless of match situation. That philosophy has brought them success throughout IPL 2026 and should ensure another thrilling contest in Hyderabad.

With playoff implications growing stronger every week, expect both sides to attack relentlessly and chase victory without hesitation tonight.

IPL 2026 Live Score: Hyderabad Pitch Set to Favour Batters Again in High-Stakes Clash
The famous batting paradise at Hyderabad is once again expected to produce massive totals as SRH prepare to host Punjab Kings on Pitch No. 2 at Uppal. Historically known for high-scoring encounters, the surface has already witnessed some extraordinary innings over the years, including India’s massive 297-run total against Bangladesh.

The dimensions for tonight’s match are expected to further encourage aggressive strokeplay, with square boundaries measuring around 63 and 68 metres respectively. Straight boundaries remain slightly longer at 75 metres, but even mishits are likely to carry comfortably under the lights.

Both SRH and PBKS possess batting units built to maximise such conditions. Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen, Marcus Stoinis and Shreyas Iyer all rank among the IPL’s most destructive hitters in recent seasons, particularly during the death overs.

While cloud cover could reduce the impact of dew later in the evening, bowlers are unlikely to receive much assistance from the pitch itself. Variations, yorkers and smart field placements may become the only effective survival strategies.

Interestingly, SRH coach Daniel Vettori admitted before the game that he was “very concerned” for bowlers in these conditions. His concerns are understandable considering the aggressive intent both teams maintain throughout an innings.

Fans arriving at Uppal tonight will expect boundaries, sixes and relentless scoring. Anything below 220 may not feel safe once the chase begins.

PBKS vs SRH Live Score, IPL 2026: Nitish Reddy Boost Lifts SRH Ahead of Crucial Home Clash
Sunrisers Hyderabad appear set to receive a timely boost ahead of their crucial IPL 2026 clash against Punjab Kings, with all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy likely to return to the playing XI after recovering from illness.

Nitish missed SRH’s previous encounter but participated in batting drills during training and is expected to slot back into the side. His return significantly improves Hyderabad’s balance, especially on a surface where batting depth could become extremely valuable.

SRH head coach Daniel Vettori confirmed that the youngster is “feeling a lot better” and indicated there were no major concerns regarding his availability. Although Nitish was not seen bowling extensively during practice, his batting presence alone strengthens Hyderabad’s middle order.

The home side is also expected to revert to the combination that worked successfully against Mumbai Indians earlier in the season. Pat Cummins will once again lead an attack that may depend heavily on execution rather than outright containment given the conditions in Hyderabad.

Punjab Kings, meanwhile, are monitoring the fitness of Shashank Singh, who has missed the last two games. Assistant coach Brad Haddin sounded optimistic, saying the batter would undergo a final fitness test before the match.

With playoff positions tightening and momentum becoming increasingly important, both teams understand the significance of tonight’s clash. A victory here could provide not only points but also confidence heading into the final phase of the league stage.

IPL 2026 Live Score: Arshdeep vs Head - Key Matchups Could Decide Hyderabad Thriller
While the spotlight ahead of SRH versus PBKS naturally falls on the batters, Wednesday’s blockbuster may ultimately be decided by a few critical bowling matchups. On a pitch expected to heavily favour strokeplay, even one decisive over could tilt the balance dramatically.

Punjab Kings will rely heavily on left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh despite his mixed form this season. Historically, he has enjoyed success against several key SRH batters, dismissing Travis Head four times in T20 cricket while also troubling Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen regularly. PBKS management believes the experienced seamer can still deliver under pressure in big moments.

Another battle to watch will involve Yuzvendra Chahal against Ishan Kishan. The leg-spinner has removed the wicketkeeper-batter three times previously and may be introduced early if Kishan starts aggressively in the powerplay.

For Hyderabad, Harshal Patel’s clever variations could prove vital against PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer. Harshal has dismissed Iyer three times in just 19 deliveries and also possesses a strong record against Marcus Stoinis at the death.

The challenge for bowlers tonight is not merely containing runs but handling relentless pressure from batters unwilling to retreat. Hyderabad’s dimensions and batting-friendly conditions leave little margin for error.

In a contest likely dominated by boundaries and momentum swings, individual matchups may quietly determine who walks away with the crucial two points.

PBKS vs SRH Live Score, IPL 2026: Fireworks Expected as SRH and PBKS Prepare for Run-Fest in Hyderabad
The stage is perfectly set for a batting spectacle as Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings gear up for a high-voltage clash at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. With both teams boasting fearless batting line-ups and explosive powerplay numbers this IPL season, Wednesday’s encounter promises relentless attacking cricket from ball one.

SRH and PBKS have dominated opposition bowling attacks throughout IPL 2026, scoring at over 11.5 runs per over in the powerplay phase. Even after field restrictions ease, neither side slows down, making this contest one between two teams who believe attack is the best form of defence. Hyderabad’s Pitch No. 2, famous for massive totals, only strengthens expectations of another six-hitting exhibition.

Punjab Kings come into the contest still sitting atop the table despite consecutive defeats. However, their bowling attack has looked vulnerable under pressure. Against a dangerous SRH batting order featuring Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen and Abhishek Sharma, PBKS bowlers face perhaps their toughest challenge yet.

For Sunrisers Hyderabad, the game offers a chance to bounce back after a disappointing batting collapse against Kolkata Knight Riders. Back on a flatter batting surface without a threatening spin-heavy attack to contain them, SRH will expect their aggressive template to flourish again.

With short boundaries, powerful hitters and two batting-heavy teams colliding, bowlers may simply be hoping for survival tonight in Hyderabad.

IPL 2026 Live Score: What a Win or Loss Means for Sunrisers Hyderabad
Sunrisers Hyderabad are currently third on the table with 12 points from 10 matches and arrive with strong momentum after four consecutive wins. A victory against PBKS would take SRH to 14 points and could potentially lift them into the top two, depending on net run rate and other results. It would also create valuable breathing space over RR and GT, both level on 12 points.

A defeat, though, would leave Hyderabad vulnerable in an increasingly crowded playoff race. SRH would stay on 12 points after 11 matches, allowing RR and GT the opportunity to move ahead while bringing CSK closer from below. With several teams tightly packed around the qualification zone, a loss could quickly turn Hyderabad’s strong recent surge into another tense playoff scramble.

PBKS vs SRH Live Score, IPL 2026: What a Win or Loss Means for Punjab Kings
Punjab Kings enter the clash sitting at the top of the table with 13 points from nine matches, but the race at the summit remains extremely tight. A win would take PBKS to 15 points and further strengthen their grip on a top-two finish, while also creating separation from the chasing pack of teams currently on 12 points. With the best net run rate among the top contenders after RCB, Punjab could end the round firmly in control of the standings.

A loss, however, could quickly drag them back into the mid-table battle. PBKS would remain on 13 points, leaving the door open for SRH, RCB, RR and GT to either overtake or level them depending on other results. In a congested top half, one defeat could significantly reduce Punjab’s margin for error heading into the business end of the season.

Further down, Ishan Kishan is placed 11th with 354 runs and requires just 8 more runs to break into the top 10, currently occupied by Prabhsimran Singh on 361. Travis Head, meanwhile, is 14th with 323 runs and needs 39 runs to enter the top 10.

SRH vs PBKS Live Score, IPL 2026: Hyderabad Hold Edge, But Punjab Bring Momentum
Despite a historically one-sided rivalry, the upcoming clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings promises to be far more balanced than the numbers suggest. SRH lead the overall head-to-head 17-8 across 25 matches, underlining their long-standing dominance over PBKS.

Recent form, however, paints a tighter picture. Over the last year, SRH have won 9 of their 14 matches with a 64.29 win percentage, while PBKS are close behind with 10 wins in 16 games at 62.50%.

The contest also features several in-form match-winners. Heinrich Klaasen has been SRH’s batting engine with 601 runs, while Eshan Malinga has picked up 23 wickets. For PBKS, Shreyas Iyer has scored 572 runs, and Arshdeep Singh continues to lead the bowling attack with 18 wickets.

All eyes are on Nitish Kumar Reddy ahead of Sunrisers Hyderabad’s crucial IPL 2026 clash against table-toppers Punjab Kings, with head coach Daniel Vettori offering an encouraging update on the all-rounder’s availability.

Reddy had missed SRH’s previous match against Kolkata Knight Riders due to illness, raising concerns over his participation in a high-stakes encounter. However, Vettori indicated that the youngster is on track to return. “He’s feeling a lot better. SRH vs PBKS highlights, IPL 2026: Sunrisers Hyderabad produced another dominant batting performance to defeat Punjab Kings by 33 runs and move to the top of the IPL points table on Wednesday. The home side piled up a massive 235/4 after Punjab’s poor fielding repeatedly let them off the hook on a flat Hyderabad pitch.

After being invited to bat, SRH got off to a flying start through Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head. The pair attacked aggressively in the powerplay and raced to 79/1 in six overs, putting immediate pressure on Punjab’s bowlers. Abhishek hammered 35 off just 13 balls with four sixes, while Head struck 38 from 19 deliveries before falling while attempting another big shot.

The real damage, however, came from Heinrich Klaasen and Ishan Kishan in the middle overs. Punjab dropped several straightforward catches and also missed a simple stumping chance, allowing both batters to settle. Klaasen continued his excellent IPL form with a blistering 69 off 43 balls, while Kishan scored a valuable 55 off 32 balls. Nitish Reddy added late momentum with an unbeaten 29 from just 13 deliveries.

Punjab’s bowlers struggled badly on the batting-friendly track. Marco Jansen and Arshdeep Singh leaked runs heavily, while Yuzvendra Chahal endured a frustrating evening despite bowling well. Multiple catches were dropped off his bowling, denying him key wickets at important stages.

In response, Punjab Kings were immediately pushed onto the back foot after a disappointing powerplay. Pat Cummins removed Priyansh Arya early, exposing Punjab’s fragile top order. Prabhsimran Singh and captain Shreyas Iyer also departed cheaply, leaving the chase in trouble at 57/3 after six overs.

Although Cooper Connolly played a superb unbeaten knock of 107 from 59 balls, the target proved too steep. He received little support from the rest of the batting lineup as SRH bowlers maintained control throughout the chase.

Cummins and Eshan Malinga bowled disciplined spells and combined to deliver 21 dot balls, ensuring Punjab never built enough momentum. The victory marked SRH’s seventh win of the season, while Punjab slumped to their third straight defeat and ninth consecutive IPL loss in Hyderabad.
