LSG vs KKR Highlights, IPL 2026: Rinku Singh’s heroics seal dramatic Super Over win for KKR
LSG had dominated key phases of the match, especially with the ball, thanks to Mohsin Khan’s outstanding spell of 5 for 23. The left-arm pacer ripped through KKR’s batting order, removing Ajinkya Rahane, Tim Seifert, Cameron Green, Rovman Powell and Anukul Roy. However, Rinku Singh changed the narrative late in the innings. His unbeaten 83 off 51 balls anchored KKR’s recovery, and a late onslaught in the final overs, including a burst of boundaries and sixes, pushed them to a competitive 155 for 7.
LSG’s chase had moments of control but lacked finishing power. Rishabh Pant (42) and Aiden Markram (31) added 57 runs for the second wicket after Mitchell Marsh’s early dismissal. But both batters fell at key moments, leaving the innings exposed. The lower order kept hopes alive, dragging the game into a final over thriller.
The last over turned chaotic when Kartik Tyagi bowled two no-balls and leaked runs under pressure. Despite being allowed to continue, he was hit for a boundary that eventually led to Mohammed Shami smashing a last-ball six, forcing the first Super Over of IPL 2026.
In the Super Over, Sunil Narine produced a match-winning spell of precision. He dismissed Nicholas Pooran first ball and then Aiden Markram soon after, restricting LSG to just 1 for 2, the lowest Super Over score in IPL history.
Rinku Singh completed the job immediately, hitting a boundary off the first ball to seal victory. His overall contribution, including four catches in the field, made it a complete all-round performance. KKR moved to eighth on the table, while LSG slipped to tenth after yet another heartbreaking defeat.
Punjab Kings continue to lead, followed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Gujarat climbed to fifth, while Chennai slipped to sixth. KKR moved up to eighth, Mumbai Indians remain ninth, and Lucknow dropped to the bottom after their latest loss in a tightly contested season standings.
Raghuvanshi, attempting a quick single, was sent back and dived as the throw struck him, prompting an appeal from Mohammed Shami. The third umpire ruled him out for changing his running line, in line with IPL clause 37.1.4.
Former cricketer Rohan Gavaskar disagreed, saying, “I think it's not out becuase when the ball came and the batter dived, he was not looking at the ball. He was looking to make that dive. If he was looking at the ball, then he wouldn't have dived… it was unintentional. So I would think that it was not out.”
On whether the appeal should have been withdrawn, Virender Sehwag said, “When you are winning… you can let go… but since Lucknow were not winning… they appealed and as per law, it is a correct appeal. But… in spirit of the game, they should not have done it… it was indeed a harsh call.”
KKR, powered by Sunil Narine and Rinku Singh, went on to win in a Super Over, climbing off the bottom of the table.
LSG matched the total, forcing a Super Over, where Sunil Narine turned the game by dismissing Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram, restricting LSG to just one run. Rinku then helped complete a crucial relay catch to remove Markram, showcasing his fielding brilliance.
Chasing two, KKR sealed victory calmly with Rinku scoring the winning runs. He also took five catches and was named Player of the Match.
“My mindset is usually to see how to play the game… I wanted to take singles, doubles and then capitalize on the loose balls… I love fielding,” Rinku said. On the relay catch, he added, “I was not at all ready… He threw it up suddenly (smiles).”

“I think we definitely need a break. I think we're gonna refresh. There is always pressure, and it's gonna be a pressure game always, but at the same time, we have to look for answers inside, not outside. And just keep it simple. We need to take accountability - every guy. Like, it can't be about one or two guys. It has to be about the whole unit, and a lot of people will take accountability for that for sure,” Pant said.
Pant backed Nicholas Pooran despite poor form, adding, “We discussed as a group… you will trust your player in a hard situation like this.”
He admitted, “No excuses there… after the break, there will be a lot of enough positive for sure.”
LSG sent out Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram, but Narine turned the game instantly. He bowled Pooran first ball, while a superb relay catch by Rovman Powell and Rinku dismissed Markram. LSG could manage just one run.
Chasing four, KKR sealed victory immediately as Rinku struck a boundary off the first ball. Earlier, he had played a match-defining unbeaten 83, including four sixes in the final over, and contributed in the field with multiple catches.
Narine’s composure under pressure combined with Rinku’s all-round brilliance ensured KKR secured a crucial win, lifting them off the bottom of the points table after a dramatic contest.
