LUNCH, DAY 1: It was a confident call from England to not play last Test hero James Anderson even though Jofra Archer was ruled out due to injury. But Olly Stone vindicated the faith shown in him by dismissing Shubman Gill for a duck in the second over of the match before India could get the scoreboard ticking. But Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara calmed nerves with a 85-run stand. While Pujara dug in, Rohit kept the scoreboard ticking by reaching his half-century off just 47 balls. But the dismissals of Pujara (21) and captain Virat Kohli (0) in successive overs brought England back on top. Spin was introduced only after 8 overs and with puffs of dust already coming off the Chepauk pitch, it would be interesting to see how will it be to bat on Day 4 and 5, if the match goes on till Day 5, that is. But Rohit (80*) , till now it seems is playing on a different surface. The ball is spinning, is keeping low, is bouncing, everything happening at the Chepauk!
