Lunch break on Day 3!
11:40 (IST) Feb 07
Day 3 first session in a nutshell!
Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill departed early as India went into Lunch at 59/2 on Day 3 of the Chennai Test. Skipper Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara were unbeaten at the break but India have a lot to worry about as they lost their openers cheaply in reply to England's mammoth 578 in the first innings. Resuming on the overnight score of 555 for 8, England added another 20 runs before Jasprit Bumrah and Ashwin wrapped up the tail with the third new ball. A hostile Jofra Archer, then got Rohit early with a rising ball outside off and then removed Gill, courtesy a sharp catch from James Anderson at mid-on. Pujara and Kohli, however then negotiated the tricky 20-minute period before umpires decided to take the break. India still trail by 519 runs in the first innings.
