Worry for Pakistan? Colombo weather forecast paints gloomy picture ahead of T20 World Cup Super 8s

NEW DELHI: Pakistan will play New Zealand in their first Super 8 match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The match will happen on Saturday at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Fans are excited because this is a strong rivalry between the two teams.

Since January 2022, Pakistan and New Zealand have played 24 T20 matches. New Zealand have won 13 matches, and Pakistan have won nine.




Pakistan fans still remember the 2022 T20 World Cup semi-final, where Pakistan beat New Zealand and reached the final. That win still gives Pakistan confidence.

In this tournament, both teams have been inconsistent. They did not play their best cricket in the group stage. New Zealand lost to South Africa, and Pakistan lost to India, so both teams finished second in their groups.

Shadab Khan spoke about the rain earlier and said, "About the rain, I think we’ve talked too much about it. It feels like it’s going to rain every day, but when we actually get to the ground, it doesn’t always happen.

"We can’t control those things. You never know it might rain in one match and not in the others. So there’s no point worrying about it."
