Delhi Capitals skipper Axar Patel won the toss and chose to bowl first against Mumbai Indians in their IPL 2025 clash on Sunday.
DC remain the only unbeaten team in the 18th edition of the tournament, having won all four of their matches so far. Their well-rounded performances with both bat and ball have placed them comfortably near the top of the table under Axar's leadership.
In contrast, Mumbai Indians have had a patchy run. With an underperforming top order and inconsistent bowling, the five-time champions find themselves in ninth place with just one win in five outings.
Speaking at the toss, Axar confirmed a forced change in the Delhi XI, saying:
“We’ll bowl first. We’re chasing well, and it’s the first match here this season so not sure how the pitch will behave. Don't trust past numbers too much. The key is to stick to our plans and be brave—even if you get hit for a six. Faf is injured.”
MI captain Hardik Pandya, under pressure to turn things around, maintained a calm outlook:
“Conversations are about where we are making mistakes. There’s no lack of experience in this group. We’re not far from a good game. Trying not to hit the panic button—panicking doesn’t help. We don’t have much margin of error now, so hopefully everything clicks tonight. Same team.”
