The Chennai-born paddler entered the bronze medal match having lost to Nigerian Quadri Aruna 0-4 in the semi-finals and bossed Walker in the first two games before losing the third, but rallied back to claim the fourth and fifth games in dominating manner.

The 35-year-old, whose past CWG results include gold in the men’s singles and men’s teams in 2006 and a men’s doubles gold in 2010, was part of the men’s team that won gold this week and on Saturday partnered Sathiyan Gnanasekaran to silver in the mixed doubles.

Earlier today, Sharath and Mouma Das lost to Sathiyan and Manika Batra in the bronze medal match in the mixed doubles. The 2018 CWG has been India’s most successful in TT.
