Commonwealth Games 2022 Day 8 Highlights: Wrestlers Bajrang, Sakshi, Deepak clinch gold medals, silver for Anshu

Star Indian wrestler Bajrang Punia said he is working on getting back to his attacking best after defending his Commonwealth Games title in the 65kg category. Tokyo Olympics bronze medallist Bajrang beat Canada's Lachlan McNeil 9-2 in the final.

Bajrang Punia was a class apart while defending his title before Sakshi Malik produced a sensational gold medal winning effort as Indian wrestlers grabbed six medals, including three gold at the Commonwealth Games on Friday. Deepak Punia (86kg) also contributed in swelling India's medal tally by winning the men's freestyle gold but birthday girl Anshu Malik (57kg) had to be content with a silver medal in her maiden CWG appearance.

India are assured of a second medal from Lawn Bowls competition after the men's Fours team made its way into the final of the Commonwealth Games. After the quartet of Lovely Choubey (lead), Pinki (second), Nayanmoni Saikia (third) and Rupa Rani Tirkey (slip) beat South Africa 17-10 in the women's Fours final to hand India a historic gold on Tuesday, it was the turn of men's team to follow their women counterparts. The men's quartet of Sunil Bahadur (lead), Navneet Singh (second), Chandan Kumar Singh (third) and Dinesh Kumar (skip) defeated hosts England by a close 13-12 margin in the semifinal to assure India of at least a silver medal.
