championship on Thursday. The chess meet in four age categories for players below 13 years is organized by Deendayal Shodh Sansthan at the Kamalatai Vaidya Auditorium of Bal Jagat, near Aath Rasta Square, Laxmi Nagar.

Chess Association (NDCA) attracted a participation of 166 players from across the city.

While all the seeded players in the U-7, U-9 and U-13 age groups registered victories in their respective opening round games, Anisha and Darsh held rated masters in the U-11 group.

On the top board of the U-11 section, Anisha defended well with her black pieces to hold 1252 Elo rated and top seed Aditya Bhange while Darsh utilized his opening advantage with the whites to play out a draw with 1112 rated Akshit Gaijbhiye on the fourth table.

Earlier, NDCA president Dilip Kamdar inaugurated the meet. On the occasion, Umesh Panbude and others were present.

Under-11: Aditya Bhange (0.5) drew with Anisha Kumbhalkar (0.5), Lakshita Kranti Rathod (0) lost to Krupal Wanjari (1), Ayush Ramteke (1) bt Shridhar Nimkar (0), Darsh Padlamwar (0.5) drew with Akshit Gaijbhiye (0.5), Kushagra Jha (1) bt Atharva Panchbhai (0).
