Ashish Jain bagged the double crown in the 11th SJAN Media Badminton tournament, organized by the Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur (SJAN) in association with PGTD of Physical Education of Nagpur University, at Subhedar Hall here on Wednesday.
In an exciting men's singles final, Jain rallied back to pip Suhas Nayse of
The Times of India (TOI) in three games.
After losing the first game at 17-21, Jain regrouped himself and restored parity by winning the second game at 21-14. In the decider, Jain played better than Nayse to clinch the title.
Earlier in the semifinals, Jain made a light work of Sujan Masid of Dainik Bhaskar, while Nayse got rid of his colleague Madhav Soman.
In the doubles, pairing with new partner Raviraj Ambadwar, Jain toppled top seeded pair of Nayse and Soman in three games. In the semis, Jain-Ambadwar shocked second seeds Sunil Warrier and Manish Sakharwade of TOI 21-16,15-21,21-14.
Aditi Sharma of TOI defeated Surabhi Puradbhat of Hitavada in straight games to claim women's singles crown.
Dr Pinak Dande of Dr Dande Foundation, leader of ruling party in NMC Dayashankar Tiwari and acting deputy director of sports Vijay Santan distributed the prizes. Li Ning sponsored the shuttles and T-shirts for the winners and runners-up.

Mens doubles (semis): 1-Suhas Nayse-Madhav Soman (TOI) bt Vilas Tijare-Amit Khodke (Lokmat) 21-10, 21-4; Ashish Jain-Raviraj Ambadwar (Lokmat) bt 2-Sunil Warrier-Manish Sakharwade (TOI) 21-16, 15-21, 21-14.
Final: Ashish Jain-Raviraj Ambadwar (Lokmat) bt 1-Suhas Nayse-Madhav Soman (TOI) 21-11, 19-21, 21-15.
