Asian Games: PM hails the historic feat, invites the contingent over

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday hailed the historic feat of the Indian contingent at Asian Games of winning more than 100 medals, first ever in the games history and invited the participants to his residence on their return to India.

In a social media post, the prime minister said that he will host the Asian Games contingent at his residence on October 10, a day after their return to the country.

"A momentous achievement for India at the Asian Games! The people of India are thrilled that we have reached a remarkable milestone of 100 medals," the prime minister in a post on X and shared a collage of the medal winning Indian athletes with pugilists and hockey players amongst others being seen prominently. India had decimated Japan 5-1 to win the men's hockey gold and also qualified for the Paris Olympics.


The prime minister further said, "I extend my heartfelt congratulations to our phenomenal athletes whose efforts have led to this historic milestone for India."

He said every awe-inspiring performance has made history and filled our hearts with pride. I look forward to hosting our Asian Games contingent on the 10th and interacting with our athletes," the prime minister said.
