Love is the water of life. Drink it down with heart and soul
Valentine's Day, February 14, symbolises love in all its moods and myriad ways. We all need to be loved and to love. It's what makes life worth living. Love is a universal need that binds us together and gives meaning to our lives. Whether it's the love of family, friends, romantic partners, or even self-love, the experience of being loved and loving others enriches our day-to-day experiences and shapes our overall well-being. Love truly is the driving force that makes our existence more vibrant and fulfilling, reminding us that we are all interconnected through this powerful, nay overwhelming, emotion. It has many shades and hues. “Pyaar har rang mein logon ko sada deta hai / Pyaar ke parde mein hum sab ka Khuda rahta hai” — Love beckons in every way/God resides in our love.No matter our differences in background, culture, or beliefs, love is the one thing that connects us all. It is a powerful force that unites people from all walks of life and brings communities together in times of joy and sorrow. It transcends boundaries and reminds us of our shared humanity, making it the most precious and enduring aspect of the human experience. Whether it is love for family, friends, or even strangers, it is the common thread that weaves us all together in a world that can often feel divided.
Love can be messy, chaotic, and confusing at times, but it is also undeniably beautiful and fulfilling. We all struggle to make sense of our emotions and relationships, trying to find our way through the maze of love's highs and lows. Despite the challenges, we continue to search for love and allow ourselves to be vulnerable, knowing that the journey is worth it in the end. Love may be messy, but it is also full of beauty and wonder.Love is not about flawless appearances or flawless behaviour. Instead, love is rooted in acceptance and understanding — accepting each other's flaws and imperfections and seeking to understand and support one another through it all. True love is about embracing each other's differences and standing by each other through the highs and lows, with unconditional love and compassion. It is about finding beauty in the imperfections and seeing the worth in each other beyond any superficial standards of perfection. Ultimately, love that is built on acceptance and understanding is the most genuine and fulfilling kind of love there is.Love is the driving force that gives our lives meaning and purpose. Love has the power to bring joy, warmth, and connection to our existence, making each day more beautiful and fulfilling. It is through love that we experience the true essence of life, forming deep bonds with others and finding moments of pure happiness and contentment. In a world filled with uncertainty and challenges, love remains a constant source of strength and motivation, reminding us of the beauty and magic that exists within our hearts.Far too often, we mistake possessiveness for love, believing that owning someone or something is the ultimate expression of our affection. However, real love is not about control or ownership; it is about showing appreciation and gratitude for the person or things we hold dear in our lives. When we appreciate someone, we value their presence, value their individuality, and cherish the moments we have with them. Love should be selfless, kind, and understanding, not possessive or controlling. Love liberates; it emancipates the loved and the (be)loved. To quote Jalaluddin Rumi, “Love is the water of life. Drink it down with heart and soul." To this, Rumi's soulmate Shams Tabrizi added, “Love is the water of life. And a lover is a soul of fire! The universe turns differently when fire loves water.”Authored by: Sumit Paul
