The Hubble Space Telescope

The Hubble Space Telescope is orbiting nearly 300 miles over the Earth. It has transformed our views of the universe since its launch in 1990. It travels at an incredible speed and circles the Earth every 95 minutes simultaneously capturing breath-taking images across ultraviolet to near-infrared light.

The Butterfly Nebula

The spectacular planetary nebula, NGC 6302, resembling the delicate wings of a cosmic butterfly is located nearly 4,000 light-years away in the constellation Scorpius. The Hubble space telescope captured the remarkable details, revealing the final stages of a star's life. Spanning over 3 light-years across, this glowing cloud of gas shines intensely in ultraviolet light, illuminating the surrounding nebula with vivid colors and intricate structures.

Pillars of Creation

Pillars of Creation are like rising monumental towers in, the most iconic structure that the telescope captured. It is located within the Eagle Nebula nearly 7,000 light-years from Earth. These stunning columns of gas and cosmic dust serve as a stellar nursery where new stars are born. The towers glow immensely under the ultraviolet radiation in vivid colors, like blue fir oxygen, red for sulfur, and green for hydrogen and nitrogen.

The Celestial Fossil

NCG 1841 is a globular cluster located within the Large Magellanic Cloud. It is a satellite galaxy of our Milky Way Galaxy that lies about 162,000 light-years away. Globular clusters are like celestial 'fossils', they provide insights into very early star formation in galaxies.

The Dumbell Nebula

This was captured in the celebration of the Hubble Space Telescope's 34th year in orbit. The spectacular image of Little Dumbbell Nebula (M76) showcases the dramatic final stages of a dying star's life. It is a planetary nebula formed when a red giant star expelled its outer layers into space before collapsing into a dense white dwarf. It appears distinctively beyond revealing cosmic beauty, with its unique hourglass-like-structure featuring a glowing central ring and expanding lobes of gas.

The Saturnian Summer

The ethereal image of Saturn appears in July 2020 captured by Hubble Space. The picture was taken during summer in the planet's northern hemisphere which revealed subtle seasonal changes in Saturn's atmosphere. There was a reddish haze caused by increased sunlight and shifting atmospheric activity. In contrast, the southern hemisphere glows with cooler blue tones shaped by winter conditions. This picture helped in understanding the evolving weather, storms and atmospheric dynamics of the outer planets in our solar system.
