According to the scriptures, past sins can be forgiven by making offerings to Brahmins and the poor during important occasions. Only a person's good actions go with them when they pass away; everything else remains behind. According to the Atharva Veda, it is believed that "Earn with hundreds of hands and give with thousands,". In this life, we should give to charity as much as we can. Those who desire heaven, long life, wealth, and those who wants to remove the past committed sins should make donations to Brahmins and worthy people. Everyone should give away a portion of their income to support others. Nirjala Amavasya is a highly important day for charity, and giving on this day is blessed by God.
