Lord Vishnu’s Dashavatara: From Matsya to Kalki

The ten different manifestations of Lord Vishnu are known as Dashavatara. These 10 Avatars have their own different stories of their appearance but the motive was always same. They have appeared on this earth in different Yugas and to save the world from injustice and establish righteousness on earth. Vishnu's fish avatar is named Matsya. In order to protect the holy Vedas from a demon and to alert King Manu to the approaching great flood, Vishnu assumed the shape of a fish..!!

Vishnu's tortoise-like incarnation is called Kurma. To help Mount Mandara during the churning of the ocean (Samudra Manthan) by the gods (devas) and devils (asuras) in search of the nectar of immortality (amrita), Vishnu appeared in the form of a tortoise..!!

Lord Vishnu's half-lion, half-man avatar is called Narasimha. In order to save his follower Prahlada and destroy the demon king Hiranyakashipu—who could not be killed by a human or a beast, day or night, inside or outside—Vishnu took this ferocious shape..!!

Vishnu's boar avatar is named Varaha. To save Earth (embodied as the goddess Bhudevi) from the demon Hiranyaksha, who had submerged it in the cosmic ocean, Vishnu manifested as a boar..!!

Lord Vishnu's Brahmin avatar is called as Vamana. In order to defeat the demon ruler Bali, who had taken over the three planets, Vishnu took on the form of a dwarf Brahmin. Lord Vishnu took all the control from him to bring the cosmos back into equilibrium..!!

The warrior-sage is known as Parashurama. To purge the world of corrupt and tyrannical Kshatriya rulers who had turned their backs on dharma, Lord Vishnu took birth in the form of Parashurama. Parashurama Ji is renowned for his extraordinary strength and skill in combat..!!

Ayodhya's prince and monarch is named as Lord Rama. In order to defend righteousness (dharma) and vanquish the evil king Ravana, Lord Vishnu appeared in the form of Rama. The epic Ramayana tells the tale of his dedication, courage, and virtue..!!

The celestial leader and charioteer is known as Krishna. In order to overcome the tyrannical ruler Kamsa and other demons, Lord Vishnu appeared in the form of Krishna and guided humanity via the lessons of the Bhagavad Gita. The Mahabharata and Bhagavata Purana, holy Scriptures and books are full of those stories that are dedicated to the life of Shri Krishna..!!

As per Scriptures, Buddha is believed to be Lord Vishnu's incarnation. Lord Vishnu took birth as Siddhartha Gautama, the Buddha, in order to impart compassion and the path to enlightenment, leading individuals away from materialistic world and towards spirituality and salvation..!!

Lord Vishnu's predicted next avatar is named as Kalki. At the end of the present Kali Yuga, which is the age of darkness and corruption, Vishnu is said to take on the form of Kalki in order to eliminate the forces of evil, restore righteousness, and usher in a new era of truth and virtue known as the Satya Yuga..!!
