The ten different manifestations of Lord Vishnu are known as Dashavatara. These 10 Avatars have their own different stories of their appearance but the motive was always same. They have appeared on this earth in different Yugas and to save the world from injustice and establish righteousness on earth. Matsya Avatar

Vishnu's fish avatar is named Matsya. In order to protect the holy Vedas from a demon and to alert King Manu to the approaching great flood, Vishnu assumed the shape of a fish..!!

Kurma Avatar

Vishnu's tortoise-like incarnation is called Kurma. To help Mount Mandara during the churning of the ocean (Samudra Manthan) by the gods (devas) and devils (asuras) in search of the nectar of immortality (amrita), Vishnu appeared in the form of a tortoise..!!

Narasimha Avatar

Lord Vishnu's half-lion, half-man avatar is called Narasimha. In order to save his follower Prahlada and destroy the demon king Hiranyakashipu—who could not be killed by a human or a beast, day or night, inside or outside—Vishnu took this ferocious shape..!!

Vishnu's boar avatar is named Varaha. To save Earth (embodied as the goddess Bhudevi) from the demon Hiranyaksha, who had submerged it in the cosmic ocean, Vishnu manifested as a boar..!!

Lord Vishnu's Brahmin avatar is called as Vamana. In order to defeat the demon ruler Bali, who had taken over the three planets, Vishnu took on the form of a dwarf Brahmin. Lord Vishnu took all the control from him to bring the cosmos back into equilibrium..!!
