Celebrity divorces and how it changed their life for good

Considering how complex modern marriages are, divorces have become quite common - be it because of infidelity, growing apart over the years, or more. Navigating a changing world after divorce can be a traumatic and challenging time for the person who is going through it. But as the saying goes, when the going gets tough, the tough get going. And that's exactly how some people navigate their divorce. They channel their energy to turn their pain into a rewarding achievement-- be it personal or professional. Here we list some celebs who are seemingly doing better after divorce and whose lives are much in the public sphere and scrutiny:

Samantha Ruth Prabhu

Indian actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu was married to Naga Chaitanya; however, their marriage couldn't survive the test of time. The duo got divorced in 2021 after four years of marriage, following which Samantha went through a bitter heartbreak. In 2022, she was diagnosed with a rare, chronic autoimmune disease called Myositis in which the immune system attacks its own muscles, thus causing weakness and pain. She has undergone intense treatments and focused on yoga and her diet to control it. While those were the lows in her personal life, Samantha also found professional highs during this period. From delivering the hit 'Oo Antava' dance number to becoming one of the most successful South stars in Bollywood, Samantha achieved new heights in her career with a hit OTT series in her kitty. And in December 2025, she finally tied the knot with filmmaker Raj Nidimoru thus finding love again.

Shikhar Dhawan

Former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan had a bitter divorce from his first wife Aesha Mukherjee, with whom he also has a son. However, after the divorce, Aesha moved to Australia, and Shikhar alleges that since his ex-wife had blocked him from everywhere, he hasn't been in touch with his son for years now. But, as fate would have it, life changed for the better for Shikhar too as he found love again-- this time in Sophie Shine. The duo dated for some time and are now engaged. Meanwhile, buzz has it that they might get married soon. On the work front, Shikhar is busy working on his foundation, and he also recently launched his autobiography.

Adele

In 2019, Adele's marriage to Simon Konecki ended amicably amid irreconcilable differences, always prioritising their son Angelo. "Neither of us hurt each other," she shared in Vogue 2021. "I just want him to see me truly loved." That quest brought brutal anxiety, but therapy, meditation, sound baths, and workouts changed everything - she dropped 100 pounds, not for looks, but peace: "Exercise silenced my worries."

Her soul-baring album '30' (in 2021) - with hits like "Easy on Me" topped charts, channeling pain into power. Now, a $220M Grammy queen, Adele glows in love with sports agent Rich Paul. Dating since 2021, engaged in 2024, she raves about his wit and smarts. From heartbreak to harmony, Adele shows us: Healing hurts, but happiness awaits.

Drew Barrymore

Drew Barrymore knows divorce pain all too well - her 2016 split from third husband Will Kopelman hit hard, especially atop her past battles with addiction. She relapsed into drinking, but by 2019, she quit cold turkey, channelling her energy into therapy, ditching self-sabotage, and rediscovering fun. "We improve our quality of life by moving forward," she shared on her show in 2024. No shame now - just liberation.

Juggling motherhood to daughters Olive and Frankie meant sidelining acting, but post-split, Barrymore reignited her spark. Then came The Drew Barrymore Show in 2020 - raw, vulnerable chats earning a Daytime Emmy while healing her and her guests. Though Flower Beauty closed in 2025, her Beautiful by Drew kitchen line thrives. Drew's story whispers hope: From rock bottom, one step rebuilds a vibrant life.

Melinda French Gates

Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates shared 27 beautiful years together, from their 1987 Microsoft meeting to tying the knot in 1994. In 2000, they poured their hearts into the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, fighting disease, poverty, and inequality - raising three amazing kids along the way. But in May 2021, they shared a heartfelt split on social media: "We no longer believe we can grow together... but we'll keep working for our mission."
The pain hit Melinda hard - sadness, anger, especially after Bill's affair with a staffer surfaced. Yet she rose stronger, channelling energy into Pivotal Ventures, her feminist powerhouse lifting women globally. "Stay hopeful by celebrating achievements around us," she posted on Instagram, December 31, 2025. Now, craft beer entrepreneur Philip Vaughn brings her "very, very happy" joy, as per her April 2025 interview with People.
