There was a time when home buyers relied on their intuition or hired an expert before buying a property. Now, thanks to the internet and social media, misinformation is so rampant that instead of clarity, people are suffering from confusion and fear. One cannot blame them because it is with their hard-earned income that they decide to invest in a home for themselves, hoping that it will bring them good fortune and stability for their family. Out of the many Vastu myths prevalent in our collective consciousness, one major myth is about whether corner homes are lucky or not. The general consensus surrounding this belief is that yes, they are supposed to be lucky, with people sometimes paying a premium to gain ownership of such properties.
Having openness on two sides of your plot allows more sunlight to come in and also keeps the air well circulated within. Naturally, such plots feel more open, breathable and spacious, which makes them attractive to buyers.
However, there is also the question of the direction of the plot and the name of the owner, which ultimately decides whether the house will be fortuitous for that individual or not. These two factors often play a much bigger role than simply whether a property happens to be located on a corner.

Corner apartments in high risesThere have been many queries from apartment owners who, after watching a few reels on social media, set out to buy the corner-most apartment in a high-rise building. Many people believe that being at the corner automatically means better Vastu and therefore better fortune. For high-rises, corners are less important than for independent plots. This fact is because all the residents in a high-rise share a single plot of land. The overall energy of the building depends more on the larger plot, its orientation, and the placement of the main entry and exit points of the structure rather than the location of a particular apartment within it.
Corner at South and WestFor those corner plots that have roads on their south and west sides, Vastu becomes a bit challenging because, according to Vastu principles, the southwest direction should ideally be heavy and closed. This direction is associated with stability and grounding. Constant movement, openness, or traffic in that direction is therefore not considered very supportive for residential stability. Such plots, however, are good for carrying out business activities that involve a lot of movement—for example, restaurants, salons, or commercial establishments where there is frequent customer activity. If you reside on such a plot, there is nothing to fear. These situations can be balanced using simple remedies from Astroarchitecture, which is the practice of designing spaces based on astrological principles. A few plants, proper placement of certain elements, and even naming the residence can have the power to significantly shift and balance the energy of such plots, especially when considering the specific characteristics of the plot's orientation and surrounding environment.
Corner at North and EastIn Vastu, a corner plot that has roads towards the north and east sides is considered very auspicious for residences. Both these directions are associated with openness, light, and positive flow of energy. Naturally, such plots are often preferred for homes. However, one should understand that just having a corner plot does not necessarily mean that the house will automatically bring good fortune. The design and placement of key elements within the property still matter a great deal. Our research over the past 42 years has shown that the direction of the main gate, as well as the main door of the constructed structure, has a far stronger influence on the energy of the place than the position of the plot itself. The placement of doors depends on many factors—such as whether the owner is engaged in business or a profession, whether senior members live in the house, and how many members jointly own the property. Because of these variables, there is no single general rule for door placement on such plots. However, if there is any imbalance, it can usually be corrected through remedies without the need for major structural changes.
Corner at South and EastIf there are roads on the south and east sides of a plot, it is generally preferred that the main entrance be on the east side. The east direction is associated with the rising sun and is often considered beneficial for residential energy. However, this is not a rigid or universal rule because for some individuals, the south direction can also be very auspicious, depending on their personal energy alignment. The southeast corner is known as the Agni Kon of a property and is associated with the fire element. Because of this quality, such plots often work well for restaurants, kitchens, or businesses connected with food and energy. For residential purposes, through astroarchitectural remedies, these plots can also be balanced effectively using elements like water features, plants, and sound energy to harmonise the space.
Corner at North and WestCorner plots that have roads on the north and west sides are generally considered neutral according to Vastu. They are neither strongly favourable nor particularly challenging by default. The energy of such plots needs to be balanced carefully according to the name of the owner and the purpose of the property. When aligned correctly, these plots can support financial stability as well as harmonious relationships among the inhabitants. Vastu as a science is based on the movement of the sun and the direction of the wind. That is why certain corner plots are considered more auspicious than others, as they allow openness on two sides for the inhabitants. However, the layout of the house, the placement of doors, the profession of the owners, and the personal alignment of those living in the space all play a significant role in determining whether a property will feel lucky or supportive. While considering a plot, it is also wise to look into its history and notice how you intuitively feel when you enter the space. Sometimes the subtle feeling of a place can reveal more than rigid rules. Blindly following generalized rules does not guarantee good fortune. True balance comes from understanding the space and the people who live in it and aligning both in harmony.
