22-year-old drowns in Chatra dam

Chatra: A 22-year-old youth drowned in Laxmanpur Dam near Bhedi farm under Sadar block in Chatra on Thursday. The deceased, Chhotu Kumar, a resident of Budhigaddha village under Rajpur panchayat in Kanhachatti block was pulled out of the water after a prolonged rescue operation by local divers and police. He was rushed to Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Officer-in-charge of Sadar police station, Awadhesh Kumar Singh said Chhotu had gone to the dam with friends for a picnic when the incident occurred.
