New Zealand are one of the favourites in the World Cup this time and cricket pundits of the country feel getting distracted by the IPL auction isn't a good option. But their skipper
Brendon McCullum did not endorse that view ahead of their game against Scotland on Tuesday.
McCullum acknowledged that his players will follow the developments, but of course, it's definitely not their 'focus'.
"If the IPL auction is happening, so be it. All the players who are in the auction know what their role in the national team is. I don't think the auction is going to affect our performance," the Kiwi skipper said.
McCullum himself plays for Chennai Super Kings and his deputy
Kane Williamson got picked up by Sunrisers Hyderabad during the first round on Monday.
James Neesham, Trent Boult and Adam Milne were bought by KKR, SRH and RCB respectively. "It's great for these guys financially and also from a playing point of view. They get to play with some of the best in the business in a competitive set-up. I'm sure the auction developments won't affect them once they come out to play against Scotland tomorrow," McCullum explained.
