Nach Baliye 7: To watch or not to watch

Nach Baliye season 7 is making headlines day in and day out. The judges on the show are already in news for their antics and according to a report on Mid-day.com, Mumbai Indians' player Kieron Pollard has been officially approached to be a part of the dance reality show. Reportedly, on May 8, 2015, Pollard was formally approached for a special appearance on the show co-hosted by Kings XI Punjab’s co-owner Preity Zinta. Quoting a source, the report stated that Pollard has been approached, but he has not yet confirmed his participation, and is still thinking about it. The cricketer is likely to appear with his wife Jenna Ali, concluded the report.

Nach Baliye 7: To watch or not to watch

Fans are claiming that Preity Zinta is an unfair judge on Nach Baliye, states Bollywoodlife.com report on the basis of the results of a poll conducted by them. According to the report, about 52 per cent fans think that Preity is an unfair judge as they think the scores that she gives are way higher than what they deserve. Almost 28 per cent of the fans don't care about how Preity judges the show and surprisingly are not willing to watch a single episode. On the other hand, only 20 per cent fans thinks that she is a perfect judge and is fair in her judgements.

Here's what we think of Nach Baliye 7...

Nach Baliye 7: To watch or not to watch

Promising start: Nach Baliye 7 kicked off with the promise of being bigger and better. The seventh season of the show was in the news ever since it was being conceptualised. Producer Ekta Kapoor had a vision for the show and wanted to make it different than what it had been, in the past six seasons. Right from making changes on the judge panel to roping in a different set of hosts, the TV czarina has done it all. To her credit, this has helped the show stay in news even before the first episode was aired. Here's what we think about the show.

Chalk and cheese: The judge panel has changed and how! After rumours of Shilpa Shetty's exit ended, speculations about her replacement began. However, it was Preity Zinta who eventually took on the role of being the judge of the dance reality show. Preity is a bit lenient as a judge. While, it was only the first episode of the show, she awarded the couples with 9 marks! Chetan Bhagat seems to be an uncanny choice. The author of bestselling novels has been assigned the role of being the impartial judge and he lives up to it. He is opinionated and unbiased - just the kind of judge needed to balance Preity's generosity. Marzi Pestonji is doing what he does best - rating couples on their dance steps.

Hosts with the most: The hosts of the show, Nach Baliye, have always been in focus. Dressed in dapper suits, Rithvik Dhanjani and Karan Patel are the right amount of funny and whacky. "I'm extremely excited to be hosting Nach Baliye, as this year its not just dancing its too much! Since I was the winner last year, I have a fair idea of what a dancing quest looks like, so yes, I hope to do justice to the job at hand, Rithvik was quoted as saying in an IANS report. Rithvik had won the sixth season of dance-based reality show, along with his girlfriend Asha Negi. Even Karan Patel has previously been a part of Nach Baliye in its third season, and while he has hosted many live events, this is his first time hosting a reality TV show. The hosts seem funny and warm enough for the participants to confide in them.

Celebrity couples: Payal Rohtagi-Sangram Singh, Aishwarya Sakhuja-Rohit Nag, Karishma Tanna-Upen Patel, Nidhi Ranka-Arpit Ranka, Sana Saeed-Dipesh Patel, Rashami Desai-Nandish Sandhu, Amruta Khanvilkar-Himmanshoo Malhotra, Neha Saxena-Shakti Arora, Mrunal Thakur-Sharad Chandra, Smiley Suri-Vineet Bangera, Pooja Shah-Jay Soni make up the participant list this season of the show. While every couple put in their best foot forward on the show, some did seem to have two left feet. Amruta Khanvilkar-Himmanshoo Malhotra and Karishma Tanna-Upen Patel's performances were the best. However, considering the fact that it is a dance reality show, the emphasis on dance could have been a little more. While the banter and emotions garners TVTs, the skill conquers all!

Channel change meter: A bevy of dance reality shows compete for attention on the TV but Nach Baliye has a dedicated audience base. The current season of the show does seems to veer away from routine and is trying to attempt a different approach to the old format. Participants aren't allowed to go home and are being monitored on an everyday basis, which just heightens the excitement. But at the same time, it also kills the surprise of the dance act. Viewers can almost predict as to what would happen on the dance days, having seen much of the behind-the-scenes footage. However, this show won't compel you to change the channel but it isn't something that you would want to rush home for.
