Dubai Airports update: Etihad, flydubai, Emirates and Air Arabia run limited flights on March 13; airlines warn passengers of scams
It’s no news now that air travel across the United Arab Emirates (UAE) continues to suffer disruption amid the escalating regional tensions in the Gulf region. Dubai’s airports are operating under strict adjusted schedules as airlines are gradually restoring services following all the safety protocols. The latest travel advisory confirms that operations are ongoing but limited, with prime airlines including Emirates, Etihad Airways, flydubai and Air Arabia updating their flight schedules.
Dubai Airports operations: Limited flights running
Operations at Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport are continuing, but not at full schedules. Only select flights are operating while the situation remains uncertain. Authorities and airlines have advised travellers not to travel to the airport unless they have a confirmed flight ticket. A few days ago, Dubai Airports confirmed that the airports handled over 1,140 flights within 84 hours to restore connectivity and help stranded travellers reach their home.
Meanwhile, major airlines are changing schedules as the situation remains fluid.
Emirates
The very famous Dubai-based airline Emirates is operating a reduced flight schedule. The airline is giving priority to passengers whose travel plans were disrupted earlier because of the tensions.
The airline has advised travellers to check their flight status on the official website or through direct communication only. It further said that passengers with confirmed tickets are only advised to travel.
Etihad Airways
Etihad Airways, Abu Dhabi-based airline, has also issued a revised flight schedule valid through March 15. It mentioned that the airline is working to accommodate passengers on available flights and is offering flexible rebooking and refund options.
Recent departure schedules from Abu Dhabi include routes to major international destinations including London, New York, Paris and several Indian cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Ahmedabad.
flydubai
flydubai is also operating limited flights and passengers booked between 28 February and 31 March can choose to rebook to the same destination within 30 days.
Air Arabia
Air Arabia is operating limited flights from Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, and Ras Al Khaimah to select destinations until March 22. Destinations include Vienna, Chittagong, Dhaka, Cairo, Athens, Milan-Bergamo, Amman, Nairobi, Islamabad, Karachi, Bangkok, to list a few.
Scam warning issued to travellers
Passengers booked on these airlines are advised to check flight status online and keep checking official updates. Airlines have also warned passengers of online scams which are targeting those affected by flight disruptions.
Etihad Airways has warned passengers about fake social media accounts and fraudulent messages posing as airline representatives. Travellers are advised not to share their personal details with them.
As per officials, scammers have been contacting stranded passengers via social media or messaging platforms, pretending to offer help with ticket changes or refunds.
Meanwhile, travellers are advised to stay updated and avoid unnecessary travel.
