Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift appear to be planning ahead as his NFL future remains uncertain
Travis Kelce appears to be standing at the edge of a major transition, one that could reshape not only his career, but also his life with fiancée Taylor Swift. After 13 seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs and three Super Bowl wins, questions about what comes next are no longer theoretical.
Ahead of the Chiefs’ 20–13 loss to the Denver Broncos on Christmas Day, Kelce addressed the possibility of retirement in an interview with Amazon Prime Video.
“I think I’m still searching for those answers,” Kelce said.
He later added: “I know when it’s over, it’s over.”
Even as his football future remains undecided, Kelce’s off-field career is accelerating. He co-hosts the wildly popular “New Heights” podcast with his brother Jason Kelce and has begun building a presence in television and film. In 2025, he appeared in Adam Sandler’s “Happy Gilmore 2” and hosted Amazon’s “Are You Smarter than a Celebrity?”
At the same time, Kelce is planning a wedding with Taylor Swift, widely expected to become one of the biggest celebrity weddings of 2026.
The open question now is direction: Does Kelce follow the sports-broadcasting path, positioning himself as a successor to figures like Tom Brady, or does he go all in on Hollywood?
Kelce’s future is leaning west. His longtime managers, twins Aaron and André Eanes, who have represented him since college, have reportedly been networking heavily in Los Angeles.
Sources told Page Six that on December 13, the Eanes brothers attended Zooey Deschanel’s Christmas party, where they mingled with television and film executives, including “White Lotus” producer David Bernad.
An industry source said, “It looks like they have a project on the go,” fueling long-standing speculation about a potential reality or scripted series.
Back in August, sources also said that Kelce had been in discussions with “Curb Your Enthusiasm” executive producer Jeff Shaffer about starring in a scripted television show.
“He is talking to Jeff about a show similar to ‘Curb’ that would follow him around. He would be playing himself, but … he wants to act.”
Industry insiders say Kelce’s appeal now extends far beyond football. According to reports, companies like Netflix have expressed interest in working with him.
A Netflix source told Page Six said Kelce’s future has been “the talk of the town,” adding that the streamer’s chief content officer Bela Bajara “may well be having conversations with his team,” though “everything at this level would be kept top secret for now.”
Kelce’s visibility is already extensive. He has appeared in national campaigns for State Farm, Experian, and Pfizer, while promoting his own brands, including Accelerator Energy Drink and Garage Beer. Combined with his NFL earnings, this has helped him reach an estimated net worth of $70 million, according to Forbes.
Some insiders see Peyton and Eli Manning, hosts of ESPN’s “Manningcast”, as a blueprint for what Travis and Jason Kelce could build together.
In August 2024, the brothers signed a $100 million, three-year deal with podcast company Wondery to expand “New Heights,” which now boasts 3.4 million YouTube subscribers.
Jason Kelce, 38, who retired from the Philadelphia Eagles in 2024, has also signed a three-year, $24 million deal with ESPN to join “Monday Night Countdown.”
“ESPN could potentially team the brothers up. They’re even better together than they are separately,” John Kosner, a sports media advisor, told Page Six.
“I see the brothers as a package deal when Travis retires, that could be the most appealing media combo of all.”
That said, ESPN wouldn’t be alone. Networks including Fox, CBS, Amazon, NBC, and even the NFL itself would likely compete for Kelce’s signature.
Another sports analyst suggested Kelce might ultimately straddle both worlds.
“It’s hard to see a path for him to be a game analyst. All of those top spots seem to be filled for the foreseeable future,” the analyst said.
“Netflix and YouTube are big partners that don’t have that many games. That might be a way where he can keep his toe dipped in football and get a big paycheck … Any network would want him, the question is does he want to go to a studio and work every week?”
Kelce’s uncertainty comes after a tough season with the Chiefs, who lost 10 of 16 games, including their final five.
“Obviously, the way this one ended with a sour taste in my mouth,” Kelce told Amazon Prime Video. “I feel motivated but I’ve got to make the right decision for me. I gotta hope that if I do wanna come back that the Chiefs are willing to bring me back. It’s a two-way street on that.”
Swift’s own schedule has opened up after she confirmed she will not tour her latest album, “The Life of a Showgirl.” Still, she has remained present in Kelce’s rising media profile, featuring him in her Disney+ docu-series “The End of an Era.”
Speaking about their relationship on the show, Swift said Kelce is the “right fit” for her because their “passions coexist and actually fuel each other.”
“Ultimately we love cheering each other on,” Swift said, adding, “That’s rad.”
