Elle Fanning opens up about motherhood plans, family planning and upcoming project; shares her wish to have a child

Elle Fanning is looking ahead to a future that includes building a family of her own. The 27-year-old actress has recently expressed that having a child of her own is something that she truly hopes to one day have. In a chat with PEOPLE at the Los Angeles premiere of Neon’s Sentimental Value, Fanning stated that the idea of having children is definitely part of her long-term plan despite not being rushed into it just yet.“It's kind of the beauty of this film, the universal themes that people are relating to, and it is about this family that is broken and the traumas that are passed down through families that sometimes you don't realize, but we all have them,” Elle explains. “There's a kind of healing power of art. I don't know if something can be completely healed all the way.”She then says, “It doesn't tie everything up into a perfect bow, but it maybe will open the door for understanding and forgiveness, and so that's the beauty of it for me.”“I think we're going to have to be fellow actors on set, but of course we are playing sisters in the film that we're going to be working on together, so we have to bring a little bit of that,” Elle says.A Norwegian drama involving the reconnection of sisters Nora and Agnes with their estranged father also affected the actress. According to Fanning, this project not only increased her knowledge regarding the complexity involved in relationships within families but also allowed her to reflect on it in her life.On the other hand, family is also playing an increasingly important role in her career path. Elle Fanning and her sister, actress Dakota Fanning, announced that they are set to share the screen together for the very first time in an adaptation of Kristin Hannah's novel The Nightingale. Unlike others who may have concerns about combining family and work, Elle thinks that her sisterly relationship with her partner will give her an advantage. She is very confident that they have such a long history together as sister and sister that it will show positively on screen.
