5 things children must know about Christmas

Christmas is about kindness, not only gifts

Children experience magic at Christmas even before anyone tells them about it. There are lights, people smelling of baking and adults suddenly become kind with the embraces and cookies. But there is more than the shine, there are the few plain things every child must learn, things that render the season not only thrilling, but significant.
Christmas is a parade of boxes, wrapping papers and surprises that children tend to see. However, this is the right time to educate them that kindliness is what the season is all about. Simple things like sharing a toy, assisting a friend, feeding a stray, take the real essence much more than there is under a tree.

2/6

Family traditions matter more than ideal plans

Not all houses resemble picture books on Christmas, and that is all right. Children ought to be made aware of the fact that Christmas is a development out of family-specific rituals: they decorate together, cook one special meal, or watch the same movie every year. It is these rituals which make the memory to be stitched together even long after they have forgotten the gifts.

3/6

Santa is more about imagination than just a man in red!

Santa is loved by children, and they should. However, it is nice to reason mildly that Santa is a symbol of a giving spirit and of marvel, not a burglar that is crashing down chimneys in Indian apartment buildings. It is the concept of Santa which promotes imagination, tale telling, and the pleasure of giving - and that is what makes him special.

4/6

Gratitude makes the season even bigger

Christmas is an acceptable opportunity to instruct children to name things they are thankful about. It might be something massive such as their family or something small as receiving their favourite dessert. The aspect of gratitude makes the season rich, which transforms excitement into appreciation.

5/6

“Giving” makes Christmas real

Be it handing out candy to people in the neighbourhood, giving away books, or having someone alone feel included during Christmas, this season is the most Christmas-like when children have been taught to share. This is what no book can really teach them, that it is better to be happy together.

6/6

A season to grow, not just to celebrate

Children do not require a history lesson or a theology lesson in order to enjoy Christmas. They simply need a soft push towards benevolence, imagination, gratitude, and generosity. Once they grasp these five concepts, the celebration turns out to be more than just lights and songs;it becomes a season that defines them.
