Jennifer Aniston’s 80/20 Rule: How the FRIENDS star stays fit at 55 without strict dieting
Jennifer Joanna Aniston is a formidable force when it comes to aging in style and glimmering on. The American actress rose to international fame for her role as Rachel Green on the television sitcom Friends from 1994 to 2004, which earned her Primetime Emmy, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild awards.
To feel well and look fantastic, the F.R.I.E.N.D.S star adheres to a balanced diet and lifestyle. Jennifer is a fitness enthusiast who pays close attention to her diet and exercise regimen. The 55-year-old Jennifer Aniston follows a comprehensive wellness and health rule called the 80/20 rule. In an interview with a prominent magazine, the "Friends" star discussed her diet and exercise regimen.
"I do 80/20. I give myself days where I can have whatever I want. I don't deprive myself," Aniston told Today. The 80/20 rule involves eating healthily 80% of the time and being more flexible for the remaining 20%. She tries to have nutrient-dense meals 80% of the time, which involves eating lots of protein and salad and drinking "tons of water," she said.

What is the 80/20 rule?

According to the 80/20 rule, you should eat healthily 80% of the time and allow yourself to indulge in less healthfully prepared foods 20% of the time. The objective is to strike a balance between fun and nutrition, and to increase the sustainability of healthy eating by providing flexibility. The 80/20 rule is all about balance, eating healthy while still allowing yourself to live a little. This approach encourages long-term healthy eating without strict deprivation. It emphasizes the importance of nourishing your body while also indulging occasionally. After all, could you truly say you've lived without savoring a bit of chocolate fudge? As the diet doesn’t really prevent you from indulging occasionally, it is also sustainable in a long run, and hence the benefits are solid.

Eating whole, unprocessed, or minimally processed foods—like fruits, vegetables, lean protein, and whole grains—is the mantra of the 80/20 rule. Additionally, you can consume a lot of water. In moderation, you can have your favorite meals, such as a glass of wine or a tiny piece of chocolate cake. On weekends or for special events like birthdays or lunch dates, you can plan your indulgences, which leads to not craving unhealthy meals throughout the week. The 80/20 rule does not, however, permit binge eating.

Aniston also avoids extra salt or salad dressing and instead uses ingredients such as vinegar and lime to season her dishes.
"Stuff like that will create a taste that is so delicious, where you're not just dousing everything with salt and butter or olive oil to make it taste good," she said. Aniston said she's more lenient with what she eats the other 20% of the time: "It would be a cheeseburger and fries or Mexican food, pasta, pizza—all the stuff that's savory," said Jennifer.

Consumes colostrum for improved digestion and gut health

Speaking in an interview with People, Jennifer revealed, “I drink Colostrum first thing in the morning, with room temperature water and a whole lemon squeezed into it." In the "colder months," she adds a special ingredient to the mix to spice up the concoction. "I will steep a little teaspoon of ginger, which is good for your digestion and your immune system, and then I'll put a little drop of Manuka honey. It's so delicious served hot.”

Works out like a champ

Aniston intends to work out three or four times a week at the very least. Jennifer was unable to lift a 10-pound weight six months ago. She feels stronger than ever right now. Aniston places a high value on fitness and usually tries to work out at least three or four times a week, even on the days when her work schedule is especially busy. She tries to go to the gym four or five times in a typical week. Fitness undoubtedly has a pivotal role in her career, and she ensures to meet her fitness goals, despite the busy schedule.
“At the beginning of the year, I had a couple of injuries just due to old stuff that flared up again. So we kind of worked around it,” the Good Girl actor said.

Aniston gradually increased the weights she lifted with the assistance of her personal trainer, Dani Coleman. Aniston doesn't always work out hard, of course. The celebrity doesn't hesitate to scale back her routine on days when she's feeling low on energy. A few years ago, Jen stopped doing rigorous cardio sessions and now prioritizes strength training, yoga, and hiking. Additionally, she enjoys practicing yoga's balancing positions, such as the tree pose, which aid with posture, muscle endurance, flexibility, body awareness, and balance.
