When Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan praised Rohit Sharma's 'Superstar' leadership

In a heartfelt throwback, Bollywood stars Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan had earlier expressed their admiration for Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma, applauding his leadership and selflessness amidst criticism. Adding to the chorus of praise, veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan recently lauded Rohit’s stellar performance, showcasing how the cricketer continues to win hearts both on and off the field.
Farhan Akhtar had taken to social media to commend Rohit’s contributions to Indian cricket, highlighting his skills and commitment as a leader. “Just have to get this off my chest… This guy has done so much for Indian cricket and captained our team incredibly well and successfully over the years. His skill with the bat speaks for itself, and there have been innumerable innings in which he’s shown us the elite level he performs at,” Farhan had written.
Acknowledging the challenges that cricketers face, Farhan pointed out, “Yes, this sport can be cruel, and you’d be hard-pressed to come up with a name of a cricketer who hasn’t gone through a lean period. We’ve seen the greatest batsmen and bowlers struggle for form... at times we’ve secretly wished that they would take a break, find their form in domestic cricket or the nets, then make a comeback.”
Farhan also praised Rohit for putting the team’s success above his personal performance, calling it a mark of true leadership. “Here’s a guy who’s putting his team’s chances of a win ahead of himself finding form, and instead of being applauded for his selflessness, the majority is tearing him down,” he remarked. Encouraging Rohit to stay strong, Farhan added, “You’re a superstar. You know what you’re doing, and I know you won’t let the negativity get you down... just want to say thank you for showing the world that you put team before individual. It’s a hard thing to do, and only the strongest of mind and heart can do it. That’s what makes a great leader.”

Echoing Farhan’s sentiments, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 actress Vidya Balan also joined the bandwagon and praised Rohit, calling him a superstar. She wrote, “Rohit Sharma, what a SUPERSTAR!! To take a pause & catch your breath requires courage… More power to you… Respect.”
Recently, Amitabh Bachchan joined in with his own words of admiration for Rohit’s leadership. In a blog post, Big B praised Sharma’s exceptional 119-run performance in India’s victory over England, highlighting his ability to silence critics through action. “A slight fade in the main event, but the courageous beating given to the Brits in cricket… simply incredible,” Amitabh wrote. Reflecting on the challenges faced by athletes, he added, “The best way to silence criticism is to perform beyond expectation… and Rohit did just that.”
