BLACKPINK’s Lisa’s Balmain moment carries a poignant nod to Thailand’s late Queen Mother Sirikit

Her ensemble brought a statement reaction, where she wore a customised Balmain haute couture that paid homage to the late Queen Mother of Thailand, Queen Sirikit.

Her identity indeed helped shape the nation’s modern-day styling, and Lisa did not hesitate for once to show off the late diva’s prowess, which is very much alive even today. The European maison picked a stunning archival design created by Pierre Balmain for Queen Sirikit in 1960. The duo, for years, had a close relationship, where Pierre Balmain helped the late queen to add a hint of Parisian blend to her Thai wardrobe.



This rare exchange soon became a global fashion buzz, where the European vision was mixed and matched with local textile traditions. The gown featured a sculpted bustier bodice with decent couture draping and a flowy, dramatic train that echoed the notes of a grand ceremonial dress.

The beautiful construction screamed Balmain’s Nuit Londres evening gown touch, where the rich Thai silk silhouette came in with intricate Yok Thong gold brocade and made the entire texture glow like a heritage piece.
