Twisha Sharma 'dowry' death case: Family moves court to seek second postmortem, alleges pre-death injuries
The family of Twisha Sharma, a 33-year-old woman from Noida who died under suspicious circumstances in Bhopal last week, has sought a fresh postmortem examination through a local court, according to their lawyer on Tuesday.
"We have moved an application for a second postmortem of Twisha before the concerned magistrate in Bhopal," the family's lawyer Anurag Shrivastava said, as quoted by PTI.
Her relatives have claimed that there were visible injury marks on her body and alleged that the wounds were caused before her death.
Meanwhile, her mother-in-law and retired judge Giribala Singh rejected allegations of dowry harassment and claiming the victim had been undergoing psychiatric treatment.
Speaking about the case, Singh said, “Our lawyer will explain everything. Where have charges been framed? The matter is still at the discharge stage. I think the police, under pressure from these people and because of all these WhatsApp messages and allegations, which have no real basis, acted in haste. Their allegations are completely baseless. Why would we demand a dowry of two lakh rupees when we ourselves gave them seven-and-a-half lakh rupees? It simply makes no sense.”Demanded Fortuner Car, Rs 50 Lakh: Family Claims Noida Woman Was Thrown Off Terrace Over DowryShe further alleged that Twisha had changed after marriage and was not interested in the family’s religious practices.
