Telangana Assembly Elections 2023 Live Updates: 'Please vote,' appeal stars as turnout 51.89% till 3pm

Telangana Elections 2023 Live Updates: Polling began amid elaborate arrangements in all 119 Assembly constituencies in Telangana on Thursday morning. Voting began at 7 am and will conclude at 6 pm. Telangana recorded 51.89% and Hyderabad 31.17% till 3pm.

As many as 2,290 candidates from 109 national and regional parties including 221 women and one transgender are in the fray. Their fate will be decided by a total of 3.17 crore voters. A total of 103 legislators are re-contesting this time, most of them from the ruling Bharat Rasthra Samithi (BRS). Voters would exercise their franchise at 35,655 polling stations set up across the state. For the first time in Telangana, a home voting facility is being provided to persons with disabilities and voters above 80 years of age. Stay with TOI for live updates:

Telangana Assembly Elections Live: Little before Telangana assembly polling, high tension prevailed at Nagarjuna Sagar Project, an inter state irrigation project
Andhra police (AP) took half of the project into it's control by deploying heavy police. Vehicle movement was stopped on Sagar project. Congress leader Komatireddy Venkata Reddy alleged that it was BRS plot to raise tempers on poll day. AP Irrigation authorities fenced in the middle of the project to control of operations from 14-26 gates.

Telangana Elections 2023: The key candidates include BRS supremo and chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, his minister-son K T Rama Rao, TPCC president A Revanth Reddy and BJP Lok Sabha members Bandi Sanjay Kumar, D Arvind and Soyam Bapu Rao.
KCR is contesting from two segments-Gajwel and Kamareddy- and so is Revanth Reddy from Kodangal and Kamareddy. The BJP fielded its MLA, Etala Rajender, from Gajwel, besides Huzurabad, where he is the incumbent legislator.

As of November 28, authorities have confiscated cash, gold, liquor, and various freebies valued at approximately Rs 737 crore in the state since the implementation of the model code of conduct on October 9, as per an official statement.
