Stressed Shinde meets Governor
MUMBAI: Maharashtra Chief MinisterSushilkumar Shinde on Tuesday met Governor Mohammed Fazal and apprised him ofdevelopments in the multi-crore fake stamp paper scam in which eight policeofficials, including a Joint Commissioner of Police, have been arrested.Shinde, who returned from Delhi on Tuesday morning, headed straightto the Raj Bhawan and met the Governor.The chief minister wasearlier scheduled to meet the governor in the afternoon but met him in themorning, in view of the aggressive stance adopted on the Telgi case by theSena-BJP combine.The saffron combine leaders had on Monday called onFazal, demanding the removal of Deputy Chief Minister Chagan Bhujbal for hisalleged failure to check growing corruption among the policeforce.The Opposition leaders had alleged that Telgi''s stamp paperracket could not have taken place without the "blessings" of toppoliticians.The police officials arrested, include IPS officerSridhar Vagal under stringent MCOCA for their alleged involvement in abettingthe fake stamp paper racket.
