NEW DELHI: Experts from the Indian and Russian media on Monday called for joint action to counter the challenges posed by the Western media.
They were speaking at a round table discussion on "Role of Mass Media in Practical Implementation of Indo-Russian Strategic Partnership" at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture.
The deliberations saw various ideas for opening up new avenues for expanding cooperation, creating a common information field, exchange of journalists etc.
The discussion, organised under the joint auspices of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture, Russian Information Agency Ria Novosti and Indo-Russian Journalists Association, was aimed at marking the December 2004 visit of Russian president Vladimir Putin to India.
The seminar was addressed by various prominent journalists and editors from the Indian mainstream media as well as by some Russian officials.
