Indonesia's President Prabowo Subianto to attend India’s 76th Republic Day celebrations
Prabowo Subianto, the President of Indonesia, will attend India’s 76th Republic Day celebrations at Kartvya Path in the national capital on Sunday. The event will feature Indonesia’s Genderang Suling Canka Lokananta, a 190-member military band from the Indonesian Military Academy (Akmil), known for embodying discipline and military tradition. This unique ensemble blends military music with noble values, representing the academy’s spirit and honour.
The name Canka Lokananta holds deep significance: “Canka” is derived from Sanskrit, meaning trumpet, and “Lokananta” refers to heavenly sound. The band, which includes various instruments like snare drums, trombones, trumpets, and flutes, aims to instil discipline, teamwork, and responsibility in its cadets. Beyond its ceremonial performances, the band serves as a showcase of the academy’s excellence and a symbol of Indonesian unity, military prowess, and dedication to national sovereignty.
The Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) will also highlight their discipline and national pride through their Marching Contingent, consisting of 152 personnel from all branches of the TNI. This contingent exemplifies unity and strength as they perform precise marching movements during parades. The Marching Contingent, which includes personnel from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, represents Indonesia’s national unity and the spirit of Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity).
President Prabowo, who took office on October 20, 2024, after leading the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) to victory in the 2024 presidential election, has prioritised issues such as anti-corruption, renewable energy, and social welfare.
