From Edouard Goubert to N Rangasamy, 10 chief ministers who shaped Puducherry politics

Edouard Goubert became Puducherry's first chief minister after it became a Union territory. He was in office from July 1963 to September 1974.

Puducherry's second chief minister, Congress' Venkatasubba Reddiar was in office from September 1964 to April 1967 and March-Spetmeber 1968.

Farook was Puducherry's third chief minister and served three terms: Congress (April 1967-March 1968; March 1985-1990) and DMK (March 1969-January 1974).

S Ramassamy was a DMK leader and held the chief minister's chair twice: 23 days in 1974 (March 6-March 28) and July 1977-November 1978.

Ramachandran held the Puducherry chief minister's chair twice, leading the Union territory's DMK-led government from January 1980-June 1983 and March 1990-1991.
