​Politicians go Ghibli: From PM Modi, Amit Shah to Shashi Tharoor; leaders join AI avatar trend​

The ChatGPT Studio Ghibli trend has taken the internet by storm, with celebrities and politicians joining in by sharing their AI-generated avatars. Indian politicians have jumped on the bandwagon, embracing the creative AI art style that transforms ordinary photos into Studio Ghibli-style animations.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi was among the first to join the trend. The central government shared a series of his AI-generated images, including iconic moments with world leaders like US President Donald Trump and French President Emmanuel Macron. These pictures show Modi in various settings, such as holding the national flag, delivering speeches, and even visiting religious sites.

The BJP posted a picture of Union Home Minister Amit Shah's Ghibli-inspired avatar speaking in Parliament, with a powerful caption reinforcing his stance on the region of PoK (Pakistan-occupied Kashmir).

Congress leader Shashi Tharoor joined the trend by sharing AI-generated artwork that was sent to him by supporters. Initially unaware of Studio Ghibli, Tharoor humorously declared that he was “officially Spirited Away” by the viral trend. "I’ve been assimilated into the Ghibli trend! These are pics sent by my supporters and well-wishers. Didn’t even know what Ghibli was till now, but consider me officially Spirited Away by this newfound revelation!" he posted on X.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis embraced the trend by sharing a family picture, including an animated version of himself with PM Modi. Fadnavis described the experience as "pleasantly surprising," appreciating the power of technology. "That’s my #ghibli style entry Technology just doesn’t stop surprising us pleasantly !" he wrote on X.

Ajit Pawar, the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, also uploaded a heartwarming Ghibli-style picture featuring his mother. He expressed his excitement about the trend, calling it "super cool" and showing his family’s involvement in the fun. "Aai and Me decided that #Ghibli is one trend worth a shot! Have to say, it is super cool!" he posted on X.

Former Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar also shared his AI-generated Ghibli avatar alongside PM Modi. His post marked his enthusiastic participation in the Ghibli avatar trend.
