R Rajaram, the Chairman of the India Heritage Center Advisory Board and Registrar of the National University of Singapore, praised the strong ties between India and Singapore, stating that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit to Singapore generates significant excitement and interest. He emphasized that India's thriving economy presents opportunities for Singapore to support and contribute to its growth.

In an exclusive interview with ANI regarding PM Modi's impending visit to Singapore, R Rajaram said, "PM Modi's visit to Singapore creates a lot of excitement and interest. India's economy is in full flight and India is one of the most significant countries making huge contributions to various segments and sections. Singapore finds itself in a place where it can complement and contribute to the growth."

Rajaram highlighted the substantial trade between Singapore and India, suggesting that India's growth will span multiple sectors. He stated, "The trade between the two countries is huge...This signifies the confidence of Singapore in the prospects and growth of India...This is a statement of confidence that India is going to grow for a long time and the growth will be multi-sectoral..."

Furthermore, Rajaram noted that not only does the Prime Minister frequently visit Singapore, but several Indian ministers also make regular visits, emphasizing that Singapore is always pleased to host them.

Indian high commissioner in Singapore Shipak Ambule said that that PM Modi's visit will consolidate agenda set during the India-Singapore ministerial roundtable.

Ambule termed PM Modi's visit as "a very important visit" as it is happening at the start of Prime Minister's third tenure as well as very during the early phase of Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong's tenure.

PM Modi's visit "gives us a good opportunity to set the stage to take our relationships to a newer level and newer heights.So that is the whole kind of purpose of this visit early on in the 10 years," said Ambule.

"I will just set the background. We had the India-Singapore ministerial roundtable last week where four ministers on our side, the Finance Minister, Foreign Minister, Commerce Minister, and Mr Ashwini Vaishnaw were present, and there were six ministers from the Singaporean side. So they set the agenda for the relationship, and that is the agenda which will be consolidated now and cemented during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit," Ambule said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday expressed confidence of advancing India's historical ties with Brunei and deepening its Strategic Partnership with Singapore, as he embarked on a visit to the two countries. Noting that it will be first ever bilateral visit by an Indian prime minister to Brunei Darussalam, he said in his departure statement that he looked forward to his meetings with Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and other members of the royal family to advance the historical relationship to new heights.
Modi will travel to Singapore on Wednesday.

He said he looked forward to the opportunity to meet President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong.

Modi will also meet leaders of the Singapore's business community.

"I look forward to my discussions to deepen our Strategic Partnership with Singapore, particularly in new and emerging areas of advanced manufacturing, digitalization, and sustainable development," he said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's upcoming visit to Singapore is expected to deepen the ties between India and the South East Asian country and set the stage to take the relationship to a new era, according to Indian envoy to Singapore.
Talking to ANI on Tuesday, the Indian High Commissioner to Singapore Shilpak Ambule said that discussions during the India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable (ISMR) held on August 27 have set the agenda for the relationship between the two countries, which will now consolidated and cemented during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit.

"It is a very important visit happening very early on in Prime Minister Modi's third tenure. It is also happening very early on in Prime Minister Lawrence Wong's tenure. It gives us a good opportunity to set the stage to take our relationships to a newer level and newer heights. So that is the whole kind of purpose of this visit," Ambule said.

About the agenda of the trade and investment ties to be discussed during PM's meetings with the President, the Prime Minister and important ministers in Singapore, Ambule said that apart from trade and investment, new contemporary areas like green technology and, sustainability will be discussed.

"We had the India Singapore ministerial roundtable last week where four ministers on our side... were present and there were six ministers from the Singaporean side. They set the agenda for the relationship and that is the agenda which will be consolidated now and cemented during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit. Of course, trade and investment form an important part of it, but apart from that, new contemporary areas like green technology, sustainability, connectivity, advanced manufacturing skills and health all will be discussed," he said.

Stating that both Brunei and Singapore are important partners in India's Act East Policy and the Indo-Pacific Vision, Prime Minister Narendra Modi affirmed confidence that his visits to the two nations will further strengthen New Delhi's partnership with the two countries and the larger ASEAN region.
PM Modi is on a three-day visit to Brunei and Singapore today. He will be in Brunei on September 3-4 and Singapore on September 5.

Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi stated, "Over the next two days, will be visiting Brunei Darussalam and Singapore. During the various engagements in these nations, the focus will be on further deepening India's ties with them."
