On Monday, scores of opposition MPs, including Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, were detained during a protest march from Parliament House to the Election Commission, which was halted midway.Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leader Jairam Ramesh were among those taken in buses to the Parliament Street police station.“This fight is not political but for saving the Constitution,” Rahul Gandhi told reporters, adding, “The truth is before the entire country.”When police blocked the march, several MPs staged a sit-in on Parliament Street, near the PTI Building—less than a kilometre from the Election Commission—shouting slogans and demanding a rollback of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
