Madhu, daughters to be quizzed by Delhi police
NEW DELHI: Delhi Police said on Wednesday it would question Madhu Sharma, wife of senior Haryana IPS officer R K Sharma, prime accused in the Shivani Bhatnagar murder case. Sharma’s daughters, Pragati and Komal, will also be questioned. Sources said Madhu Sharma was likely to be questioned about the information she claimed to have. She had made statements to the media in the past weeks claiming to have information about the case.

She even mentioned telephone calls made to Shivani Bhatnagar on the day of the murder.
The police will also try and get information about R K Sharma’s whereabouts from his family. ‘‘She has levelled several charges including those against Union minister Pramod Mahajan. We believe she has information that may help with the investigation,’’ said a police officer. The Delhi police team could not question Madhu Sharma on Wednesday due to lack of women police personnel.
Madhu Sharma had accused Mahajan of having orchestrated the crime in an interview. She had later watered down her statement and said the possibility of Mahajan’s involvement was as much as that of her husband.
Police teams stationed in Panchkula have been asked to contact Madhu Sharma to seek an appointment. Officers said they would not insist she went to a police station, but would question her wherever she felt comfortable. Officers said another team would be questioning Pragati who was in Delhi at present.
Additional commissioner of police (crime) Qamar Ahmed said the police would soon be writing to the Delhi high court registrar about some irregularities that had been noticed in the filing of R K Sharma’s affidavit with the oath commissioner. The police will also inform the high court about developments in the matter.
Police officers said irregularities, suggesting negligence, were committed at the oath commissioner’s office. There was reportedly no registration number on the affidavit which was purportedly filed on August 16, a day before R K Sharma moved the high court for anticipatory bail. Also there was no signature in the commissioner’s register against the entry for Sharma’s affidavit and the portion where Sharma had to sign was ‘‘torn off’’.
