Jharkhand Election Results 2024 Live: Jharkhand chief minister Hemant Soren is set to visit Raj Bhavan at 4 PM to tender his resignation and stake a fresh claim to form the government after the INDIA bloc's victory in the state assembly elections. The Soren-led Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) spearheaded the alliance to secure 56 out of 81 seats in the Jharkhand Assembly.
The JMM itself won 34 seats, while its allies contributed significantly: Congress secured 16, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) four, and CPI-ML two seats. On the other hand, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) managed only 24 seats, with BJP winning 21 and its allies AJSU, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), and JD-U claiming one each. The Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha also gained a seat, with party chief Jairam Kumar Mahato emerging victorious in Dumri.
The assembly elections, held in two phases on November 13 and November 20, resulted in the JMM-led alliance retaining power in the state. Jharkhand Elections: JMM wins three another seats
JMM won Tundi, Kharsawan, and Bhawanathpur assembly seats. The counting of votes began today at 8 am. Till 4:30 pm, JMM won 11 seats while its alliance Congress claimed the victory in two seats. JMM's Mathura Prasad Mahato won the tundi seat, Dashrath Gagrai won the Kharsawan and Anant Pratap Deo claimed victory in Bhawanathpur.

The JMM-led alliance appeared poised to maintain control of Jharkhand, with Election Commission data showing leads in at least 50 seats of the 81-member state assembly on Saturday. The BJP-led NDA, despite its confident and vigorous campaign, underperformed expectations, securing leads in only 29 seats.
The BJP's campaign focus on removing "infiltrators" from the Santha Parganas region proved ineffective against the JMM's emphasis on 'Adivasi' representation and their appeal for public support following Chief Minister Hemant Soren's arrest.
EC data indicated the JMM was ahead in 31 seats, whilst the Congress showed leads in 14, the RJD in four, and the CPI(ML) Liberation in one constituency.

Based on the latest Election Commission of India trends in the Jharkhand Assembly election, whilst the JMM-led Mahagathbandhan appears set to maintain control, Chief minister Hemant Soren's spouse, Kalpana Soren, faces potential defeat in the Gandey constituency.
"Counting is still underway. When we have waited so far, let's wait for a few more hours. I think it will be too early to say anything now. So, let's wait...Everyone has waited for November 23," Kalpana Soren stated to ANI.
In the Gandey constituency, BJP candidate Muniya Devi established a lead of 3060 votes against Kalpana Soren during the eighth round of counting, with 13 rounds remaining, according to electoral officials.
The current Gandey representative, Kalpana Soren, who secured victory in the previous by-election, remarked that "People of Jharkhand have chosen the path to development, and somewhere women are winning this time."
She further added to ANI, "But still it is difficult to say anything (on results), first it should all finish."

CPI leader D Raja expressed confidence that the INDIA alliance would establish government in Jharkhand, whilst observing that BJP's campaign failed to resonate with the state's population. He pointed out that BJP's focus on infiltration and corruption did not gain traction amongst voters, emphasising that infiltration concerns fall under the Union Government's jurisdiction.
"These are all early trends. If these trends continue, then in Maharashtra, the BJP and its allies will win and form the government. As far as Jharkhand is concerned, JMM, Congress, and its allies are sure to form the government. Let us wait for the final outcome and the verdict of the people of Maharashtra and Jharkhand," the CPI leader said.
"The people of Jharkhand are not at all convinced by the campaign unleashed by the BJP and its leaders. The way they were raising the issue of infiltration and corruption could not convince the people of Jharkhand. Jharkhand Assembly Election 2024: BJP had only come here for jumlebaazi, says Keshav Mahto Kamlesh
As the INDIA bloc led by Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) secured leads in 50 seats surpassing the halfway mark in Jharkhand Assembly elections, state Congress chief Keshav Mahto Kamlesh criticised BJP on Friday for their empty promises.
"The JMM Mahagatbandhan has asked for votes because they worked. They just came here for 'jumlebaazi'..They did not do anything to even alert about any infiltrator and only created a wrong idea about them," Kamlesh said.
He highlighted that their alliance's performance exceeded other states, garnering recognition for developmental initiatives across the country.
In his conversation with ANI, Kamlesh elaborated: "Our alliance's has done better than all the other states. Whether it be Covid period, migrants were brought back and provided all facilities here. People from other states also appreciated Jharkhand. All development work was done here, whether it was the farmers or the ration cards. We all know BJP makes big promises but they have done nothing for the farmers."
Former state chief Rajesh Thakur expressed confidence saying, "This was bound to happen. The manner in which we have taken schemes to the people, they have awarded us for that. We did what we used to say. The results of all of this is going to come today. As per the trends so far, we can see ourselves forming the Government once again with the majority...Formation of our Government is certain..."

Jharkhand Election Results 2024 Live Updates: Number of seats will increase in Jharkhand, says Congress' Ghulam Ahmad Mir

In some places, we are leading and in others, we are trailing. We should wait till 2-3 PM, the number of seats and margin of votes for Congress will increase. In some areas, we will definitely do better in the fifth or sixth round of counting. Our JMM-led alliance has tried to perform better in these elections. We tried to reach out to people, especially women voters. People have responded to it in the polling and it is also visible now," Jharkhand Congress in-charge Ghulam Ahmad Mir told ANI.
The emerging results suggest a shift in BJP's traditional urban strongholds, with Mir pointing out that small and medium-sized businesses have experienced difficulties due to BJP policies, particularly the implementation of GST.
"In Dhanbad, which is considered the second-best capital after Ranchi, we are performing very well. In Ranchi and Bokaro as well, we are performing well. We expect to add five to six seats by the end," stated the Congress leader.

Jharkhand Election Results 2024 Live: RJD surprise element polls, party candidates leading in 5 of 6 assembly seats
According to trends on the Election Commission's website on Saturday, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has shown unexpected strength in the Jharkhand assembly elections, leading in five out of six contested seats. RJD candidates were outperforming incumbent BJP legislators in these constituencies.
Previously in 2019, RJD had won only the Chatra seat through its candidate Satyanand Bhokta.
After the third round of counting in Deoghar, RJD's Suresh Paswan established a lead of 19,581 votes against BJP's sitting MLA Narayan Das.
In Godda, following six rounds of counting, RJD's Sanjay Prasad Yadav maintained a lead of 19,867 votes over BJP MLA Amit Kumar Mandal.
RJD candidate Subhash Prasad Yadav, released on bail, was ahead by 3,471 votes against BJP's incumbent legislator Neera Yadav in Koderma.
Subhas Prasad Yadav, a close associate of RJD leader Lalu Prasad, had recently received bail from the Supreme Court in a money laundering case.
In Bishrampur, the party's Naresh Prasad Singh led by 5,159 votes after four rounds of counting against BJP MLA Ramchandra Chandravanshi.
RJD's Sanjay Kumar Singh Yadav maintained a lead of 8,213 votes in Hussainabad after four rounds against BJP MLA Kamlesh Kumar Singh.
However, party candidate Rashmi Prakash trailed by 3,776 votes in Chatra. Prakash, who received the party ticket, is the daughter-in-law of Bhokta, who chose not to contest this time.
Previously in 2019, RJD had won only the Chatra seat through its candidate Satyanand Bhokta.

Despite the JMM-led Mahagathbandhan surpassing the required majority in the Jharkhand Assembly election, BJP MP and MoS defence Sanjay Seth expressed confidence about BJP's performance at 12 noon, drawing parallels with Maharashtra's results.
Sanjay Seth said, "Jharkhand has 81 seats and Maharashtra has 288 seats. The scope is greater there. We have 81 seats, so the scope is less. But I can confidently say that as the sun goes up, gap will increase. I can confidently say that the wave of change that was seen in Jharkhand - corruption, vote jihad, shattering of the dreams of youth, atrocities on women in 5 years. I am fully confident that the tsunami you see in Maharashtra will come to Jharkhand too at 12 noon."
He indicated BJP's current lead in 44 seats and predicted crossing 50 seats by noon.
He further commented on the opposition's stance, noting their tendency to attribute defeats to the Election Commission and EVMs, particularly within the INDIA bloc. He mentioned that MLAs would convene post-victory to select the chief minister.
According to the Election Commission of India's data at 11:25 am, the JMM-led Mahagathbandhan alliance was ahead in 50 seats, surpassing the majority threshold in the Jharkhand Assembly election.
The breakdown showed Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leading in 29 seats, Congress in 13, RJD in 5, and CPI(ML)(L) in one seat.
The current trends indicated BJP leading in 28 seats, while AJSU, JD(U), and LJP(RV) each led in one seat.
Sanjay Seth said, "Jharkhand has 81 seats and Maharashtra has 288 seats. The scope is greater there. We have 81 seats, so the scope is less. But I can confidently say that as the sun goes up, gap will increase. I can confidently say that the wave of change that was seen in Jharkhand - corruption, vote jihad, shattering of the dreams of youth, atrocities on women in 5 years. I am fully confident that the tsunami you see in Maharashtra will come to Jharkhand too at 12 noon."
He indicated BJP's current lead in 44 seats and predicted crossing 50 seats by noon.
He further commented on the opposition's stance, noting their tendency to attribute defeats to the Election Commission and EVMs, particularly within the INDIA bloc. He mentioned that MLAs would convene post-victory to select the chief minister.
According to the Election Commission of India's data at 11:25 am, the JMM-led Mahagathbandhan alliance was ahead in 50 seats, surpassing the majority threshold in the Jharkhand Assembly election.
The breakdown showed Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leading in 29 seats, Congress in 13, RJD in 5, and CPI(ML)(L) in one seat.
The current trends indicated BJP leading in 28 seats, while AJSU, JD(U), and LJP(RV) each led in one seat.

Regarding the outcomes in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, Union minister Giriraj Singh expressed on Friday that the INDI alliance's communal behaviour in Maharashtra might lead to their downfall.
In his interaction with ANI, Singh said "I am sure we will win in both Jharkhand and Maharashtra. This INDI alliance has done a naked dance of communalism in Maharashtra. Maharashtra has not accepted it. Let Lalu Yadav be happy in believing that INDI alliance is winning in Jharkhand."
BJP's spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia supported Singh's views, indicating that the BJP is receiving public support in both states.
Bhatia further commented, "BJP-NDA-Mahayuti is going to make a hat-trick. We are winning Maharashtra as well as Jharkhand. We are winning in Uttar Pradesh too (Assembly by-elections). This clearly shows how people are giving their blessings. It won't be wrong to say - Hum Toh Ek Hain Aur Safe Hain. But are those who brought coffers and spoke of vote jihad? We feel proud to see that we are receiving the blessings of people again and again."
