NEW DELHI: In his second round of team reshuffle, new BJP President Rajnath Singh on Saturday appointed party's Central Office Secretary Shyam Jaju as headquarters Incharge replacing Vice-President Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi while retaining both V K Malhotra and Sushma Swaraj as spokespersons of the Parliamentary Party. Naqvi, who was retained as party Vice-President in the new team announced by Singh on January 25, was replaced by another prominent Muslim face Shahnawaz Hussein in the powerful Central Election Committee.
Hussein, a former Civil Aviation and Textiles Minister, was also made Secretary in the new team. A former Pracharak associated with the RSS student wing ABVP, Jaju is considered close to party General Secretary Pramod Mahajan.
Singh had earlier included former Bajrang Dal Chief Vinay Katiyar as a General Secretary in the team and nominated Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to the Central Parliamentary Board, the party's apex decision making body. Swaraj, who was dropped as spokesperson of the party and replaced by former Information and Broadcasting Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, has been retained as spokesperson in the team alongwith Malhotra, a party release said.
All Chief Ministers of BJP-ruled states, Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Sushil Modi have also been made permanent invitees to the national executive alongwith all state Presidents, Leaders of Opposition in state Assemblies and Councils and Chief Whips of both Houses of Parliament. Ashwini Kumar has been retained as In-charge of the Parliamentary Party with Prabhat Jha as Co-Incharge, it said.
