Nafisa join TMC in Mamata’s presence
PANAJI: Criticising BJP for undermining India's federal setup, West Bengal CM and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee on Friday said it is time to put an end to BJP's culture of 'dadagiri'. "Let Goans rule Goa. Dilli ki dadagiri bandh honi chahiye," she said.
Banerjee, who is on a three-day visit to Goa, said unlike Congress and other parties which "compromise" with BJP, TMC would not sell itself to BJP.
1x1 polls
Mamata spelt out her party's intention to contest all 40 assembly seats in 2022 assembly polls in Goa.
She blamed Congress for not shouldering the mantle of the opposition party both nationally and in Goa. "Other parties surrender, we never surrender or compromise. If TMC is strong, the parties will realise and come to us. If TMC isn't strong, they will go to BJP," she said. She lashed out at Congress for the number of MLAs who defected and joined BJP. Asking Goans to give TMC a chance, Mamata said, "You (Congress) can't control your MLAs. You allowed BJP to form government. Who can say it won't happen again?" She said: "My agenda is clear, let Goa run from Goa. We want to see the federal structure is strong. We want to see a strong union of states."
Meanwhile, international tennis ace Leander Paes and veteran actor Nafisa Ali joined TMC in the presence of Banerjee.
