CHANDIGARH: Haryana on Monday got its first woman Chief Secretary with the appointment of 1969 batch IAS officer Meenaxi Anand Chaudhary to the top bureaucratic post following the retirement of G Madhvan here on Monday.
Official sources said that Chaudhary, at present posted as Special Secretary, Sports and Youth Welfare at the Centre on deputation, would be the 23rd Chief Secretary of Haryana since the formation of the state in 1966.

She is the eldest of three sisters, all of whom are Haryana cadre IAS officers. Her two sisters, Urvashi Gulati and Kesni Anand Arora, are posted as Secretary Health and Special Secretary, Home respectively.
The three belong to Chandigarh and are daughters of a former professor at Punjab University rpt (former professor at Punjab University) J C Anand.
Madhvan, who retired on Monday has been posted as the Chief Information Commissioner under the newly introduced Right to Information Act.
