Delhi vs Centre: AAP 'disagrees' with HC verdict; LG Jung says 'victory of Constitution'
"It's not anybody's victory, it's about Constitutional validity," Delhi's LG Najeeb Jung said.
NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Thursday dismissed as many as nine petitions from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and said that the Capital's Lieutenant Governor (LG) is not bound to act on the advice of Delhi's cabinet.
Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal has been railing against the Centre since he came to power, accusing it of blocking any and all AAP government plans to move Delhi forward. Kejriwal also famously referred to the Prime Minister saying "Modi is a coward and a psychopath." From the party's and his own Twitter handles, It isn't as if the BJP has kept quiet either.

PM Modi himself once compared Kejriwal to an anarchist and said he was only capable of disruption and not governance.
Still, after today's Delhi High Court ruling , many are hoping the rhetoric is toned down and that civility comes back to political discourse.
After the judgment, Delhi's LG was gracious rather than gloating. "It's not anybody's victory , it's about Constitutional validity... Of course we report to the Central government but it's wrong to say we work against the Delhi government," Delhi LG Najeeb Jung said.
The BJP urged the AAP government to quit its attitude of confrontation, and said that the Delhi government should not forget the basic responsibility of fulfilling the promises made to the people.
"I hope that the Delhi Government understands this and gives up its confrontation attitude and quarrelling mentality towards the Centre, and start focusing on civic issues concerning Delhi. It cannot continue to have this tirade against the Government of India making it as an excuse for your failures and try to divert the attention of the people," Union Minister Venkiah Naidu said.

"Good sense" seemed to be a favourite term today. The BJP's Bhupender Yadav tweeted:

"Kejriwal should not make this judgement a prestige issue and see it as an opportunity to concentrate on the development of Delhi," BJP Delhi MLA Vijender Gupta said. "It is regrettable that on the one hand the Kejriwal government has attacked the federal system and on the other also turned Delhi Assembly into a centre of ridicule due to which the resolutions passed by the legislative assembly failed the test of constitutional validity," he added.
Former police commissioner of Delhi BS Bassi too, said this wasn't about winning or losing.

"Everybody has specific jurisdiction, we must confine to our jurisdiction, respect the Constitution. And if you want any changes, you are always at liberty to champion the cause which you believe, but at the same time you should not forget the basic responsibility of fulfilling the promises made to the people within your jurisdiction," said Naidu.
Former AAP member Yogendra Yadav said governance should now be the focus.

The Congress Party's Ajay Maken also talked out moving forward with development.

Sharmistha Mukherkee, also of the Congress, said jumping to litigation at the drop of a hat is anti-people.

The bonhomie from Wednesday's Rajya Sabha proceedings should remain inspirational. Former Chief Election Commissioner of India lauded the 5+ hours of debate.
