NEW DELHI: A 27-year-old pregnant woman and her three young daughters were found dead with their throats slit inside their house in Prem Chand Park area of outer north Delhi on Wednesday morning. Police suspect the woman’s husband, who has been missing since early morning, and are investigating the motive behind the killings.
Police suspect Anita’s husband, Munchun Kewat, who works as a vegetable seller at Azadpur Mandi. He has not been seen since early morning and is the prime suspect. Officers are probing all possible angles, including whether preference for a male child or other personal issues could be linked to the crime.
Police said a PCR call was received at 8.07 am about bodies lying in a ground-floor room of the house. When officers reached the spot, they found Anita, who was two months pregnant, and her daughters aged three, four and five lying in a pool of blood. All four had deep neck injuries caused by a sharp-edged weapon.
The bodies were first noticed by relatives and neighbours in the morning. A relative said a child from the family came crying and informed them that his aunt and cousins had been attacked. According to police, there was a dispute in the house around 9 pm on Tuesday night.
Crime and forensic science laboratory teams inspected the spot and collected evidence. The bodies have been sent for postmortem. A murder case has been registered, and teams are searching for the accused.
