NEW DELHI: During the discussion on the resolution for removal of
Om Birla from the Speaker’s post, Congress member Gaurav Gogoi on Tuesday said
Kiren Rijiju would be remembered as the parliamentary affairs minister who interrupted the opposition the most. His remark drew a swift response, not from Rijiju, but home minister
Amit Shah.
Shah said it is true that the parliamentary affairs minister has interrupted the most, adding that it was because the country had never seen such an “irresponsible opposition” before.

Gogoi’s remark came when Rijiju intervened during his speech, saying this was a discussion on the speaker, and if the opposition is talking of other issues, they should not interrupt when “we reply”.
