UK-strain is a whole virus...India-made vaccines target all the proteins on the surface of the virus, not just one S-GEN protein that has mutated. Therefore those vaccines that are targeting just the 'SGEN' may not work as well. But that is still scientific conjecture.

— ANI (@ANI) 1609684702000What we know is that we've been able to control the pandemic in the country by following Covid appropriate behaviour.
We don't know how long vaccine is going to effective, we don't know how much of the population we will have to vaccinate to break the virus transmission.
There are 29 patients in India with the same variant for which we should be cautious. We have been able to isolate the new virus very soon.
New virus variant which is now more than 60% infective & creating havoc in the UK is worrisome.
Initially, the Serum Institute vaccine will be given. They already have 50 million doses available and they'll be able to give that in an initial phase where we'll vaccinate around 3 crore people. Gradually, we'll build on it and by the time Bharat Biotech data will also be available.
