Coronavirus live updates: Goa extends corona curfew till June 28
India reported 60,753 new Covid-19 cases, 97,743 discharges & 1,647 deaths in last 24 hours, as per health ministry's updated data on Saturday. The total number of cases are 2,98,23,546 a against total discharges which are 2,86,78,390. The death toll has further climbed to 3,85,137. The Centre on Friday introduced a new feature to eliminate duplication in certificates on CoWIN, offering relief to several beneficiaries who failed to get the final certificate despite obtaining both the doses because they used different cellphone numbers to register on the portal. So far, such beneficiaries were getting two first dose certificates showing different mobile numbers.

Mizoram extends lockdown till June 30
The Mizoram government on Friday extended the lockdown with certain relaxations till June 30, a notification said. The ongoing lockdown was scheduled to end on June 21. Under the new regulations, inter-village movement will be allowed and shops besides those selling essential commodities will be permitted to open on specific days in the Aizawl Municipal Corporation (AMC) area.

Delta Covid variant becoming globally dominant, WHO official says
The Delta variant of Covid-19, first identified in India, is becoming the globally dominant variant of the disease, the World Health Organization's chief scientist said on Friday. Soumya Swaminathan also voiced disappointment in the failure of CureVac's vaccine candidate in a trial to meet the WHO's efficacy standard, in particular as highly transmissible variants boost the need for new, effective shots.

Austria will donate one million doses of Covid-19 vaccines to western Balkan countries, Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said Friday. In April, Austria and Slovenia promised thousands of coronavirus vaccine doses to the Czech Republic after coming under fire from Brussels for refusing to help EU partners in greater need of jabs.
